<merlin1991>
actually linus has been on the ath9k mailing list some time ago because his wireless sucked
<merlin1991>
didn't call a single person an idiot!
<DocScrutinizer05>
until kdbus I really thought Linus must be the smartest guy ever
<DocScrutinizer05>
accepting kdus doesn't feel that smart to me
<DocScrutinizer05>
that maybe has impact on his pole position, but he's for sure still smart
<merlin1991>
kdbus was accepted?
<merlin1991>
last time I checked it was still a NOOO NEVAR thing

last thing I heard was "it's going kernel"
<DocScrutinizer05>
not verified though
<DocScrutinizer05>
not by myself
<DocScrutinizer05>
other gossip had it that Linus was attending a meeting and arguing pro-systemd. I felt nausea trying to follow the YT video so I can't say if it actually was true or not
<DocScrutinizer05>
I'd _love_ to learn it all is just evil badmouthing
<ShadowJK>
In my experience, Linus only has opinion on userspace, when it fucks up his userspace
<DocScrutinizer05>
*nod* that's what I thought as well
<ShadowJK>
iirc, when $distro switched to networkmanager and it killed Linus' machines he was somewhat annoyed
<DocScrutinizer05>
searching aunt G doesn't help either to confirm any of that
<DocScrutinizer05>
so maybe what I heard was not backed by hard facts.
<P-G>
He seems like a good guy but maybe too trusting.
<P-G>
I've only seen a couple videos of him but he seems like an idealist.
<P-G>
Maybe writing kernels has that effect on people.
<ShadowJK>
Some people would say he's too paranoid :-)
<P-G>
We're all paranoid. ;)

hmmm >> [Fri 06 March 2015] [00:50:48] <MinceR> well, linus is cheerleading for systemd and he uses fedora <<

[Tue 27 January 2015] [22:54:03] <[TheFlash]> "I don't actually have any particularly strong opinions on systemd itself. I've had issues with some of the core developers that I think are much too cavalier about bugs and compatibility, and I think some of the design details are insane (I dislike the binary logs, for example), but those are details, not big issues."

(even though the text explicitely tries to avoid some side effects)
<DocScrutinizer05>
just a fork of debian that tries to keep user's freedom of choice rather than introducing a monster monolithic thing called systemd-* that you _need_ to install and that forbids using other *dev or init system implementation and grows like cancer into stuff like netfilters, DNS, whatnot else
<bencoh>
yeah I know the purpose ;)

NB Poettering himself stated that systemd is not meant for embedded and will not cre whether embedded can work with a systemd based distro or not

systemd is turning linux at large into a Desktop PC OS. That's why it's relevant and on topic in this channel
