500mA (without h) - well, yes, that might result in problems since the N900 needs at least 1A, during first ~30min of charging a largely empty battery. After that it goes down to <500mA (unless you also have backlight on etc)

a car battery is rated 1000A or somesuch, usually, so it can provide the up to 600A the starter needs. That however doesn't mean the battery is not suited for a tiny light that only needs 100mA
