DocScrutinizer05: those samsung chips have onenand working it seems, dmesg on N9 reports exactly the same, see http://bsd.ee/~hadara/debug/n9.txt (search for onenand)
<DocScrutinizer05>
good, yes. I only want to see them programmed
<freemangordon>
I doubt the ancient u-boot version dr.N uses will be able to program it, but lets see

DocScrutinizer05: I'd rather count on linux to be able to do it

Friendly suggestion: Neo900 web site could use a brief news update. I assume there's some status info that could be shared?

+1

rjeffries: yes. You're *absolutely* right. Alas we have all manpower bundled to come up with our webshop this week. I guess that will mandate a update of the frontpage as well then
<rjeffries>
Thanks for the response! Do you dare to hazard a ROUGH guess on when the first Neo900 will make a phone call? Will in be by the end of 2015?
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes
<DocScrutinizer05>
:-)
<DocScrutinizer05>
I *really* hope even a tad earlier

Oksana: you here? Please note that German laws requirements for tax exemption are pretty complex and you frequently *need* a lawyer/tax-adviser to get that stuff sorted. Such dude costs money, waaaay more money than any Maemo_eV ever could save on taxes
<DocScrutinizer05>
heck, what tax exemption and savings are we talking here? A maybe 30% MAXIMUM (prolly way less) of a maybe 6000EUR/anno (prolly way less too)? The tax advisor will cut through those 2000EUR *easily* during one year
<DocScrutinizer05>
just saying please don't waste all of maemo community's money on a futile effort to save a few cents of it
<DocScrutinizer05>
maemo_eV has no turnover, so nothing you can save on taxes either
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, you can write donation receipts for tax exempt on donor side, but ask yourself how tempting that really is for donors
<DocScrutinizer05>
donate a 100 bucks and accept that 15% are tax and you can't declare the expense to reduce your own tax. Or donate a 100EUR and reduce own tax by ~5EUR, and know that none of the donated money will get paid for tax but all will get paid to a tax advisor to avoid the tax paying
<DocScrutinizer05>
verein Besteuerungsgrenze 35.000€
<DocScrutinizer05>
guess you'll hardly go *significantly* beyond that turnover per year - "go *significantly* beyond" since that amount is *always* free of any tax, no matter how much you actually "earn" per year. When maemo_eV collects a 40,000€/a, it pays tax for 5ooo, which still isn't paying for the tax advisor's fee since taxes for 5000 are max 1500 I'd guess
<DocScrutinizer05>
you hardly would find a tax advisor doing the job for 1500/a and even when she did, you still haven't _saved_ a single cent
<DocScrutinizer05>
get the picture?

Oksana: I've told you about devuan and how maemo depends on it since debian will not be compatible to maemo anymore in future (when systemd avalanche completely took over and infested whole debian repo - systemd is fundamentally incompatible to maemo). Now maybe you (councol) may consider to support devuan by giving a home to talk.devuan-org (much like talk.maemo.org) on one of our VirtualMachines on maemo server? Technically it shouldn'

t be a problem and I guess IPHH would also be fine with it (we should ask them anyway)

Oksana: re hosting of devuan.org i'm still waiting to get a "we're interested" from the devuan guys, so don't rush on it yet
