<rqou> azonenberg: we should make Yet Another database of "how to identify SMD packages from their marking codes"
<azonenberg> Lol
* azonenberg is trying to debug a board that works correctly (as far as i can tell) upon powerup
<rqou> i wasted probably weeks hunting down a particular code
<azonenberg> then as soon as you reflash the FPGA with new firmware, or even just reset the FPGA and load the same firmware
<rqou> because the date stamp is concatenated immediately after the part marking
<azonenberg> the external PLL chip stops working
<azonenberg> i.e. the only way to load new firmware is to power cycle the board or you won't get a clock
<azonenberg> The icing on the cake is that my dying rigol crashes hard any time i remove power from the DUT
<rqou> lol
<azonenberg> And the new lecroy is at least a week out
<rqou> btw fun heuristic: a letter+number rotated at 90 degrees from the rest of the marking on a SOT23 -> diodes incorporated
* rqou expects a "duh, i knew that" from azonenberg :P
* azonenberg will try and remember that
<azonenberg> :p

<rqou> ugh, also their package codes aren't unique across footprints

<rqou> huh: a "weird pattern of dashes" on a SOT23 -> former Fairchild

<openfpga-github> [yosys] azonenberg pushed 1 new commit to master: https://git.io/v5Ec0
<openfpga-github> yosys/master 459a550 Andrew Zonenberg: Initial skeleton of recover_tff_counters pass. Not fully implemented, should probably get renamed.
