wpwrak: reviewing the SWP comparator / shunt, I notice that you effectively add comparator offste voltage to hysteresis. This is extremely conservative, usually offset is a very slowly changing constant and thus we could assume the hysteresis be as low as 5mV (+0), instead of 5+20mV
<DocScrutinizer05>
of course the design is on the safe side, just we should keep this in mind for any safety margins we add on top - they could be more relaxed when we take this into account
<wpwrak>
yes, i know that it's pretty paranoid :)
<wpwrak>
also the voltage levels are on the extreme side of caution: i used the worst-case figures from the dubious Vo/Vi specification. i expect that we have quite a lot more flexibility in real life.
* Wizzup_
was initially considering not going to CCCamp, but may reconsider if there is a neo900 village
<DocScrutinizer05>
of course we have
<Wizzup_>
I know
<DocScrutinizer05>
:-D
<DocScrutinizer05>
that was to wpwrak
<Wizzup_>
It's just (like with OHM), it's quite a few days, and I don't like tents too much
<Wizzup_>
ah
<Wizzup_>
lol, sorry.
<DocScrutinizer05>
Wizzup_: check out the hotel on area
<DocScrutinizer05>
two days ago they stil ahd so called "bikesheds"
<Wizzup_>
I think my fault was mostly that I put up my tent with (my) amsterdam hackerspace, and it was in the noisy field
<DocScrutinizer05>
4 beds but no water
<Wizzup_>
aha
<DocScrutinizer05>
bathroom in main house
<wpwrak>
it's mildly ironic that i'll be travelling from the land of failing infrastructure to the pinnacle of modern technological development - just to go to a spot that has limited access to running water :)
<Wizzup_>
what is the land of failing infrastructure?
<DocScrutinizer05>
wpwrak: limited acces to water?
<DocScrutinizer05>
Wizzup_: see URL ^^^ and answer: Argentina
<Wizzup_>
ack
<wpwrak>
Wizzup_: argentina. and in my case, with a special emphasis on lack of gas (for heating ... rooms, water, food)
<DocScrutinizer05>
wpwrak: there's absolutely no problem with water expected
<wpwrak>
DocScrutinizer05: yeah, it's just funny that there are so many references to not having water :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
I don't see any
<DocScrutinizer05>
except for my bikeshed tip above, which was just a simpler way to state "bathroom shared"
<DocScrutinizer05>
the other reference you frequently quoted is just for camper mobiles
<DocScrutinizer05>
in Germany you *must not* do any huge meeting like this without even drinking water
* Wizzup_
remembers the flood area signs @ OHM
<DocScrutinizer05>
and I hardly ever seen any. Worst case the firefigther have 1000m hose to next hydrant, and then a tap line with 8 taps left and 8 right side
<wpwrak>
(no water) from the faq: "There is no visible Water infrastructure for campers or anything else.."
<wpwrak>
sounds pretty damning, eh ? :) especially since "camper" can refer to a person
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes, see my answer above your note
<DocScrutinizer05>
no
<DocScrutinizer05>
here it clearly refers to a car
<DocScrutinizer05>
you don't think those CCC guys will make 4000 people meet for 5 days in the middle of nowhere without any water?
<wpwrak>
the word can be used for both, "camping bus" or such would be unambiguous
<wpwrak>
well, it could be one of those "oh, we just noticed. don't worry, we'll fix it somehow" things
<DocScrutinizer05>
no, it won't
<wpwrak>
after all, there are tons of empty pages on the wiki. so it's clearly "work in progress"
<DocScrutinizer05>
please stop spreading fear abpout water
<DocScrutinizer05>
there are even showers promised
<wpwrak>
i don't think anyone is afraid :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
I think you are
<wpwrak>
"even" showers ! ;-)
<DocScrutinizer05>
your above quote was clearly in context of mobile homes aka campers aka camping mobiles
<DocScrutinizer05>
MEH
mvaenskae has joined #neo900
<DocScrutinizer05>
honestly, what's this all about? what's your point?
<DocScrutinizer05>
look, we're so used to having water that we find it worth mentioning it when the next tap with potable water is more than 15m away
<DocScrutinizer05>
(context) btw I guess there must be a german "translation" (prolly original) of the FAQ that have that allegedly ambiguous "camper" term in it
<DocScrutinizer05>
umm nope, there isn't
<DocScrutinizer05>
Q: "Will there be a hookup for campers?" I don't think they assumed a human camper wants to hook up to a water hose
<DocScrutinizer05>
Q:"Is it ok to come with a campervan/caravan?" A."There will be a dedicated area for campers and caravans"
<DocScrutinizer05>
Q:"Will there be a water uplink available at the beginning of the camp to fill our pool and paddle pond (planschbecken)?" A:"Probably yes. We are in contact with the local fire fighters. But it also depends on when you want to fill your pool. The earlier the better."
<DocScrutinizer05>
so no "opps, we missed to think about water, will fix that later"
<Kero>
"hooking up with a camper" ? :)) ambiguity abound!
<DocScrutinizer05>
hooker800
<DocScrutinizer05>

<DocScrutinizer05>
funny how my printer is always 45s late to automatically do a nozzle cleaning at 12:00
<DocScrutinizer05>
network printer, prolly calls home for time, and whatnot else
<DocScrutinizer05>
hint: Finowfurt was a military "airport", so the water situation provided by location was even possibly worse than in this year's location
<DocScrutinizer05>
and yes, of course you should probably bring a 5L "bottle" for carrying drinking water from next tap station to your tent
<DocScrutinizer05>
I think even the map http://events.ccc.de/camp/2011/wiki/File:Map1.1.png is not comprehensive, I can't find the showers. But it (iirc) shows the two water "sources" correctly (blue dots)
<DocScrutinizer05>
aah, showers are between A1 and F2
vakkov_ is now known as vakkov
<Humpelstilzchen>
.o0(the ccc camp had showers?)
<DocScrutinizer05>
sure
<DocScrutinizer05>
even with warm water
<DocScrutinizer05>
iirc those were like 4 "contractor's sheds", two for each gender
<DocScrutinizer05>
there possibly were more showers next to the toilets on back of hangars
