I've seen more than one monitor (CRT) being ruined by a careless cleaning with usual agressive household detergent which took off the antiglare finish

those ultra-thin metal coatings are really delicate and sensitive to acids

all sorts of optical glass (lenses, glasses...) have very similar coatings usually

however that shit (dimethoxymethane) has an amazing capacity of dehydrating skin. one really needs to work with it in gloves

probably flux-off is particularly "non-activated" ;-)
