<Jagan> Hi, using apritzel/arm-trusted-firmware.git with Linux-3.10 on A64 is unable to initilize AXP PMIC
<Jagan> any help
<gnarface> there should be pre-made images for that hardware from multiple distros
<gnarface> if you're just trying to run it with kernel 3.10, i don't think there's any reason to go through the trouble of figuring out how to build it yourself
<gnarface> that's only for if you want mainline (4.x kernel) support
<gnarface> sorry that's as much help as i can be
<gnarface> oh, well i can be slightly more help; i can mention that the legacy (3.10) and maineline (4.x) kernels are not cross-compatible with any of the firmware or u-boot forks meant for the other
<gnarface> none of the docs really bother to make that as clear as they should, it would have saved me a couple days of chasing my tail

<willmore> For for swiftgeek et al.
<swiftgeek> willmore: that's what i was referencing and no xD
<swiftgeek> willmore: esp8089/esp8266 are the same thing
fkluknav has joined #linux-sunxi
<swiftgeek> but if you buy esp8266 it's easier to debug it
<swiftgeek> *module
<swiftgeek> nothing is known about its dsp so it's expected to be on par with ath9k_htc
<willmore> Okay, wasn't sure how libre you were going.
<swiftgeek> willmore: well DSP would be amazing
<swiftgeek> then you could do more than send CW over 2.4GHz
scream has joined #linux-sunxi
<willmore> Do you mean the signal processing for the wifi TX/RX you want to know more about?
hardfalcon has joined #linux-sunxi
<willmore> I'd be shocked if it weren't pretty close to a fixed function device due to power/die size issues.
<swiftgeek> willmore: well it's still a dsp with mask rom
<swiftgeek> anything else would kill die size
<willmore> And if that mask doesn't provide for any extensability, then it might as well be fixed hardware.
<swiftgeek> though then what if you have bug there
<willmore> change the mask.
<swiftgeek> so probably some patching mechanism exists
<willmore> That's the point of mask rom. You can change it without redesigning the chip.
<swiftgeek> yeah i guess espressif has more time
<willmore> You just change one metal or poly layer and you're done.
<swiftgeek> qcom just patches PBL with fuses
<willmore> qcom doesn't care about security
hardfalcon has quit [Client Quit]
<swiftgeek> they do xD
hardfalcon has joined #linux-sunxi
<willmore> Just not enough to do anything about it.
<swiftgeek> they do xD
<swiftgeek> but the code is eye gouging
<willmore> I can only judge by their behavior and they ship horribly buggy code and refuse the input of researchers who find bugs.
<swiftgeek> well they do ship updates quickly and everything but vendors do worst possible job of that
yann|work has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
<swiftgeek> if code was public for researchers then it would take much less time to point that out
<ssvb> f11f12: all the dram related info is in the wiki, I tried my best to keep it up to date when I was working on the dram code
<ssvb> f11f12: these boards don't use DIMM modules, so they don't need and don't use the fly-by topology

<BenG83> waaaay back in 2005 I tried to implement part of a BT stack on a small MCU
lkcl has joined #linux-sunxi
<t3st3r> I guess whole point of spp is that you do not have to. Ironically it implies module firmware to do that for you... possibly using larger MCU than yours.
<t3st3r> and what you've been doing? Something like BT HCI from MCU?
fkluknav has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<BenG83> I was making a sensor node with an AVR and a BT capable radio chip
