icenowy[m], Looking just to the diff, it has less step than ours. Why pinebook in the condition?
<icenowy[m]>
dddddd: Pinebook uses just the same ANX bridge
<icenowy[m]>
just a regulator is different
<icenowy[m]>
oooooooooops... thing gets wrong
<dddddd>
icenowy[m], the name of the dt for the teres is not "sun50i-a64-pinebook"
<icenowy[m]>
I know it ;-)
<dddddd>
Sure, you named it I guess :)
<icenowy[m]>
I got U-Boot to run on TERES-I
<icenowy[m]>
but the USB keyboard doesn't work
<dddddd>
icenowy[m], thanks! I'll test it tomorrow. I miss PD24 handling, for example
<dddddd>
icenowy[m], right, keyboard doesn't work at u-boot prompt.

<jonkerj>
lwh`: I'd look around in similar/related dts files
<jonkerj>
dts and dsti
<Pe3ucTop>
hi, could anybody comment about DMA - in datasheet for SPI I see Normal and Dedicated DMA , what does this mean and which to chose ??
<lwh`>
jonkerj: That was also my idea and I already looked at other inet boards - I there anyway to test it? I mean I know there is babelfish but the effort is discontinued. The specs are still vague to me, cause I'm not elecrical engineer myself. How would you do it?
nuuuciano_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<jonkerj>
depends on what you want to achieve
<jonkerj>
you want to create a DTS for a board for which none exists yet?
<jonkerj>
it's a tablet, I see
<jonkerj>
you'll need to know what's in it, one way or another. Schematics help

jonkerj: Sure, where to start... I'm not coming empty handed. I have Polaroid MIDC010 which is mentioned on the wiki. It has inet-3f rev06 though and fex file differs slightly from uploaded there. I guess, it describes rev03.
<lwh`>
Schematics , like tracing?
<codekipper>
lwh`: it should be fairly straight forward as there are plenty of similar devices currently in mainline,
<lwh`>
codekipper: I do imagine that. How to look for similiarities though?
<codekipper>
All you really need is the fex file to compare with. A10 is pretty well supported.
<codekipper>
if you look in the kernel under arch/arm/boot/dts/sun4i-a10-inet*.dts
<codekipper>
you'll see a few examples.
<willmore>
Pe3ucTop, which board?
<lwh`>
codekipper: Maybe that sounds stupid - is there any chance that I will brick my board if I specify dts incorrectly?
<codekipper>
lwh`: in uboot this looks like a good example arch/arm/dts/sun4i-a10-inet9f-rev03.dts
<codekipper>
some say the Allwinner chips are unbrickable.....but if you're using fel to boot then I don't see a risk
<codekipper>
but do things gradually if you do
<KotCzarny>
they all also happily boot from sdcard
<Pe3ucTop>
willmore: testing on LicheePi zero = V3s = Sun8iw8p1 , trying to implement SPI DMA , mostly work, but have issues at receive, sometimes firsts 63bytes of 80 byte buffer get random data..
<lwh`>
codekipper: and what about dts in the kernel? Do I need write it too? or are those definitions passed by uboot?
leio_ is now known as leio
<willmore>
Pe3ucTop, icenowy[m] is working on that chip, IIRC. She might have more insight. Not sure if tllim can ask Allwinner about it for you.
<codekipper>
lwh`: you need to do both eventually but for now to get something working I would just concentrate on the kernel

hi everybody. there was a kernel compatibility page showing which allwinner chipsets parts are compatible with the mainline linux kernel. any idea about the url? i lost my browser history so i cant look up.. and google tells not the right table. its been a quite big table with red and green fields.
