yeah; same as anarsoul's save for one slightly massaged commit
<dddddd>
Is there any other ATF repo I should know about? (I think smaeul's is the more advanced, right?)

apritzel's is the original, mine started the rebase on upstream, Icenowy has h6 support and a couple of device-specific branches. those are the ones I know of with unique commits
<dddddd>
OK. Thank you all! I'll keep you posted.

hanetzer: don't know where he works. but they seem to be making good progress at the moment. Updates show goals being hit every couple of days at the moment.
<hanetzer>
excellent. mayhaps it will be viable by the time that vpu kickstarter is delivered on
<hanetzer>
would deffo make sunxi chips the best foss arm SoC's available :)
<Strontium>
yup, i think there is a lot of people who would be happy to chip in to see it happen too, given the success of the cpu kickstarter campaign.
<Strontium>
vpu
<hanetzer>
ja. had I enough disposable income I'd have chipped in myself :)

I'm not familiar with kickstarter; if I understand it correctly, it has been funded for its base goals, and only stretch goals remain, correct?

Strontium: would be nice if they all got funded, or even if they are not funded the guys continue to tinker/help others tinker to get them done :)
<Strontium>
hanetzer: agreed, but its the nature of these things. Funding it accelerates development, so the unfunded items will still probably get done some time, just not as quickly.
<hanetzer>
yep.

its funded the driver working on newer chips, like the H3/H5/A64 which is nice. The base should support Mpeg2 and H264. If they can get another 4300 Euro in the next 17 days then they will also add H265 decoding, which would be nice.
<Strontium>
but even having mpeg2 and H264 on all those chips is a fantastic outcome.

the reality is allwinner themselves are stupid for not funding the rest of the goals and then giving these guys proper data to work from. But thats a totally other story.

265 is dramatically higher compression, and kind of essential for 4K video.
<KotCzarny>
more important being what formats will be still used for services like netflix, youtube etc
<KotCzarny>
or people started using 4k in cctv?
<hanetzer>
KotCzarny: well, even if they don't, even a 1080p stream in 265 would be better compressed, right?
<KotCzarny>
sure, but is decoding more than 1 stream in realtime supported/capable in allwinner ve?

jernej or anyone else who knows the drm stuff: I added a new log at www.palvencia.se/H3/dmesg4.txt with drm.debug enabled. Timestamp 914 is when the screen starts saying "no input signal detected" (or something like that) and 1116 is when i hit the shift key on the usb keyboard, waking up output again. 1116 is when the stacktrace is logged.
<jernej>
BroderTuck: What is the output of "cat /sys/kernel/debug/clk/clk_summary" ?

ls -l /sys/kernel/debug/ returns "total 0", wo there appears to be a kernel config option I've not selected...

apart from this silly issue that only shows up in the dmesg log I'm quite happy with the results. I even turned of the kernel simplefb support to verify that it was really your code that got used.
