<Turl> wens, how is the rest of the gmac stuff coming along?
<Turl> mainline wise

<Turl> how long was it that you sent the last set?
<wens> was sent on Dec. 7
<Turl> I'd send the new ones then
<Turl> fresh fixed patches are a great way to poke people and remind them they shoulh have a look imo

<vector80> Hi All
kivutar has joined #linux-sunxi
<vector80> I have a A20 based device, and it has 8Gbyte EMMC, connected to A20 with 8lines
<vector80> but when I run "mmcinfo" in uboot console, it display as "4bit"
<vector80> Does it cause a performance drop ?

<JohnDoe_71Rus> usb dongle has 2 devices. keyboard and mouse. I have to use only the mouse. Is it possible use android / kernel disconnect the device keyboard? sorry for oftop
<oliv3r> JohnDoe_71Rus: no, but you can ignore the event device normally
<oliv3r> dunno if it's a simple android option, i highly doubt that
<vector80> oliv3r: Hi, how are you
<oliv3r> libv: revert! p1 only applies to mmc controllers!
<libv> oliv3r: and then wait how long until someone else goes and tries to fix it again?
<JohnDoe_71Rus> I do not know how to ignore. Android offers to choose input method for keyboard
<jelly-home> libv:
<jelly-home> and then I guess add a comment like "(yes, that's correct, and p1 isn't)
<oliv3r> vector80: good morning, did you try my u-boot that i've sent you?
<vector80> yes, I wonder about that
<vector80> last night,
<vector80> you send me one new binary
<vector80> and asked to put this file on the filesystem of my sdcard
<vector80> I couldn't understand why to do that
<vector80> Do you want to use it for copying to eMMC ?
<oliv3r> vector80: i know regular mmc is limited to 4 bit isn't it? I mean, there's not enough wires to do 8 bit + all the control lines,EMMC might do 8 bit of course, but I'm not sure our MMC driver in u-boot is allready capabale of that
<oliv3r> libv: i'll add anintroductary section about devices to tha tpage hten :)
<oliv3r> vector80: exactly
<libv> oliv3r: imho either the defines get fixed up (to have 2 defines), or they go completely
<oliv3r> vector80: you boot from your SD card, then when debian is booted, dd if=/location/of/u-boot_emmc.bin of=/dev/mmcblk1 (if that is emmc) bs=1024 seek=8
<oliv3r> libv: you mean ${card}?
<vector80> ok, how to know, mmcblkp1 or p2 is my emmc ?
<oliv3r> vector80: mmcblk = mmc block device; 0 or 1 is device 0 or 1, p0-2 is partition 0, partition1,partition 2
<oliv3r> so /dev/mmcblk0p1 is device0, partition 1
<libv> oliv3r: yeah, either you have 2, one for the main device, one for partitions, or it should go
<oliv3r> so you need mmcblk1 (no partition) for emmc is my guess; as the sd card is mmcblk0p1
<oliv3r> libv: i'll split it and add some clarification, sec
<libv> ok :)
<libv> sdcard would be /dev/mmcblk0, 1st partition would be /dev/mmcblk0p1
<JohnDoe_71Rus> you are cool guys. Merry Christmas
<vector80> oliv3r: v
<libv> seems like i have relatively reliable dac detection for vga now
<vector80> oliv3r: when I boot from SDcard
<vector80> I only have /dev/mmcblk0
<vector80> I don't have /dev/mmcblk1
<vector80> I feel, this kernel doesn't detect my eMMC on the board ?
JohnDoe_71Rus has quit [Quit: Miranda IM! Smaller, Faster, Easier. http://miranda-im.org]
<oliv3r> libv: awesome
<oliv3r> vector80: make sure your fex file is setup appropiatly
<oliv3r> vector80: the mmc driver will read the .fex and enable/disable accordingly
<vector80> oh my god
<oliv3r> vector80: your script.bin needs to be on your sd card
<vector80> Ok, as you remember
<vector80> This was a ready made debian img file from olimex
<vector80> so, I didn't have done anything, just burn it to SD card and boot
<vector80> So, this fex is not compatible with mine
<vector80> It means, I have to boot allwinner linux from eMMC, and overwrite uboot.bin ?
<vector80> right?
<vector80> Can I change script.bin while running debian ?
<vector80> may be I can
<vector80> Let me take out SD card
<vector80> connect to my PC
<vector80> and use script.bin when I used to make android image
<vector80> let me try
<oliv3r> vector80: it means, you have to take the script.bin from the olimex image, modify it to match your hardware, and copy the file back to the SD card
<oliv3r> remember, each driver reads script.bin; in essence, script.bin defines what hardware is available and how it communicates
<oliv3r> vector80: script.bin is the allwinner devicetree in a way
<oliv3r> vector80: you cannot just copy it and expect things to just randomly work :)
<vector80> waww
<oliv3r> vector80: so, put the sd card in your PC, use bin2fex from the sunxi-tools to convertscript.bin to a script.fex
<vector80> clear
<vector80> let me do it
<oliv3r> modify it to match your board (probably copy paste most of your own fex) then use fex2bin to convert it back to script.bin and copy it back to the SD card
<vector80> give me some time
<oliv3r> sure
<oliv3r> i'll go clean the kitchen now; it's xmas time
<vector80> waww
<vector80> happy christmas too all of you
<vector80> sorry to forget this
<oliv3r> after you have done that; boot from SD card, you should have mmcblk1, which is emmc, and you can install the u-boot (_emmc.bin) to the emmc and it should boot (atleast the u-boot console) if that happens, we're golden :) i'll check back here later :)
<vector80> clear
<vector80> I will do it and let you know the result
<oliv3r> vector80: heh, i'm a non beliver, but having fmaily over anda nice dinner is always a good thing :)
<oliv3r> vector80: i'll check back later :)
<vector80> hahaha ok, even you are a non believer, you are a good man, thank you

<vector80> oliv3r:
<vector80> oliv3r: I am experiencing one problem with android image and LiveSuit
<vector80> I can create Android LiveSuit images without and issue (on my kubuntu12.04 virtual machine), and then copy 520Mbyte IMG file to my Windows7 ultimate x64
<vector80> And then try to update my eMMC with LiveSuit
<vector80> When I do this way, LiveSuit almost allways fails ( %95) , and %5 is succesfull to write
wolfy has joined #linux-sunxi
<vector80> But I also have one special IMG file, that one is also for A20, it is also android, but for different board. When I input this file to LiveSuit, it write everytime ( %100)
<wens> bcmdhd dependencies fail :(
<vector80> So, I feel the files that are generate android images have one problem, they can't be written to eMMC... Here is my log: http://pastie.org/8575344 ( Succesfull one )
<vector80> http://pastie.org/8575345 ( Failed one )

<cubear> Hey, I'm trying to setup a video streaming server on a cubieboard - I'd like to use it to stream videos over LAN to a digital TV.
<cubear> which server software do you recommend (with transcoding support)?
<cubear> tried minidlna, works, but doesn't seem to do transcoding
<wolfy> cubear: i have not found another option but avcodec ( former ffmpeg )
<cubear> that's the conversion library, not a streaming server or?
<wolfy> it does transcoding and can also do streaming, if asked nicely
<cubear> does it do directory listing, dlna/upnp stuff?
<wolfy> ney.
<cubear> well than scratch that
<cubear> I'm looking for a daemon server, not a command line tool
<cubear> I believe media tomb is nother choice though
<cubear> another*
<wolfy> it's a package which also includes a server.
<wolfy> and the CLI does streaming
nieuwie has quit [Quit: ERC Version 5.3 (IRC client for Emacs)]
<wolfy> actually if you find ANY solution which does not use it for transcoding I will be very interested to be told about it
<cubear> that's not my goal at the moment
rellla has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<cubear> hmm, PS3 Media Server is yet another choice
<cubear> Hell, I'll try mediatomb for now
<wolfy> mediatomb streams OK, I use it to stream to my TV. but it needs vlcmpeg/oggflac2raw/ogg123 to transcode
<wolfy> and, surprise, surprise, ffmpeg
<cubear> ffmpeg or avconv?
<wolfy> it's the same app. it had its name changed over time
<cubear> I've tried minidlna. it lets you browse pictures, music and video folders separately on a TV
rz2k has quit []
<cubear> but it doesn't transcode
<cubear> or do subtitles
<cubear> anyway, I see mediatomb is in the ubuntu repos, so I'll give it a go. ty.
<Turl> you can boot via an sdcard or android recovery to do that
