good, still online. Just plugged a surge filter into my ethernet cable, just in time for arriving thunderstorm
<specing>
DocScrutinizer05: go wireless
<DocScrutinizer05>
eeeew
<specing>
also no surge filter can stop a lightning strike
<specing>
no eew, it is really nice
<DocScrutinizer05>
I know :-)
<DocScrutinizer05>
(nice) I beg to differ. Here WLAN is a PITA since everybody and his dog has at least 2 APs and everybody tries to shout the loudest
<specing>
so... shout louder?
<specing>
or on a different band
<specing>
right now I would only use ethernet cables if my machine could be PoE'd

well, many of my machines have a RJ45 jack but not all have a WLAN built in. I'd rather use cat6 wherever possible, way easier to debug and to configure, and magnitudes higher reliability and bandwidth
<DocScrutinizer05>
and stuff like router config web interfaces are not even enabled on wireless IF by default, for good reason
