Help! After installing ipfs-desktop, there is a huge file on the c:\ drive. How can this be moved to a storage drive?

<olizilla[m]>
yeehi: is it called `.ipfs`?
<olizilla[m]>
how big is it and what is it called?
<yeehi>
yes it is olizilla[m]
<yeehi>
it is a few gigabytes large 3?
<olizilla[m]>
did you add some files to ipfs? By default IPFS makes a copy of the files you add and stores them in the .ipfs folder
<yeehi>
about 4 GB

<olizilla[m]>
you can move your IPFS home to an external drive... you need to configure the IPFS_PATH enviromnet variable
<olizilla[m]>
if you click on ipfs desktop to show the menu, and click on advanved > show configuration file
<olizilla[m]>
you can set the `path` property to the new location you move your .ipfs folder to

I'm trying to come up with a way to implement "ipfs add" in a C++ client from a buffer, without having to write a file to disk first
<ecloud>
the object/put API requires data to have the wire type marker and some sort of suffix already, plus being base64 encoded and then wrapped in JSON right?
<ecloud>
so, is there an easy way to do that or I have to link with protobuf too?
<ecloud>
or is there a better way, some API that will do it with the raw data and give back the hash of the file?

ecloud: You should be able to just use the `add` endpoint, sending a multipart file. You can see how it works by running `ipfs add [somefile]` and looking at the request in wireshark

Hey all, brief shill: I'm working with fission.codes > we're working to get web3 tech in the hands of Web2 devs. Starting with an IPFS add-on for Heroku. if anyone is interested in helping us alpha test we'd be honored to hear feedback once we launch! (weeks, not months)
