I read an article recently in which the author tried to configure his static home page tohost on an IPFS installation. It was a lot of work and he never was able to actually bring it online.
<movedx[m]>
What is the best way of using IPFS to serve static web content? Perhaps everything inlined?

Is this a good place to ask questions? What I'm trying to do is store, host, and distribute a growing archive (currently ~8 TB) consisting of >100MB collections (currently 600k+) and track the root key though IPNS. There are a couple of questions/concerns and blocking items that prevent using IPFS out of the box so I want to figure out where to focus on.
<AviKav>
As multiple, independently maintained, largely intersecting, frequently updated archives may emerge, it would be ideal if the vast majority of clients could request collections via their key rather than relative to any archive root.
<AviKav>
This leads to the performance concern of reproviding either 8 TB worth of object keys, or 600k+ keys via a custom reprovider strategy and/or custom pinning/GC management. The later may result in only needing a simplified IPNS follow mechanism.
<AviKav>
Lastly, concern about pin performance (https://github.com/ipfs/go-ipfs/issues/5221). Are performance of pin operations proportional to the amount of data pinned, or to the number of root keys pinned? If the later, what can I expect if attempting to preform pin operations with 600k+ pre-existing pins? Also, I can't seem to find information on what exactly internal pins are and how they differ from indirect pins.

movedx[m]: Shouldn't be that hard. I've done it before. Assuming everything needed for the webpage is in a directory you can recursively add that directory and then use the DNSLink in dns records to forward the domain to that hash. If you want it to be seamless then you would need to point to a server that's running ipfs to fetch it.

hello all, I wrote up an interview for Fission.codes with Steven Vandevelde about Diffuse, a music player that allows a variety user authentication schemes and distributed storage, including IPFS. Hopefully this chat finds it interesting >>
