looking for cheap close to $50 as possible, to put together a simple ubuntu pc for a relative who is in a wheelchair. i already have the LCD monitor, keyboard and mouse but looking to make it more 'laptop' like so it can be more portable. i do have an old laptop but the HD doesnt work in the MB anymore. I think the MB HD controller is burnt up. So I guess I have two questions, mainly is cubie 1 enough or go with cubie 2? ub
<skulltip>
untu apps would be card games, maybe firefox. nothing really demanding of 3d graphics

<emx>
Flashtek, did you compile the modules?
<Flashtek>
emx: no
<emx>
Flashtek, chances are they are not loaded because not existent
<Flashtek>
given that when I asked, nobody replied as to which were needed....
<emx>
Flashtek, lsusb gives you a list with your usb devices.
<Flashtek>
it doesn't show in lsusb
<emx>
better ask in a linux channel
<Flashtek>
this is cubietruck specific surely
<emx>
#linux or if you use ubuntu then #ubuntu or #debian for cubian

Flashtek, how can you tell when you didn't check that the modules are loaded at all?
<Flashtek>
or 'gentoo as I use Gentoo on my desktop ? #debian for the 100 servers I look after, or #ubuntu for the 2000 pc's ??
<emx>
Flashtek, what is your distro on cubie?
<rm>
Flashtek, do you use lubuntu that said it's for Cubietruck?
<Flashtek>
lubuntu
<Flashtek>
I'm just re-flashing again
<rm>
you may need to ensure that in the /boot/ directory you have a script.bin that's corresponding to Cubietruck
<Flashtek>
lets see if this will work this time
<emx>
Flashtek, i would ask in lubuntu how to check if and which modules are loaded for your usb devices.
<rm>
to enable the built in USB ports which host WiFi/BT
<Flashtek>
so, they should show as USB right ?
<rm>
wifi definitely
<Flashtek>
bt generally does too IME
