Hiho
<FR^2>
What where the microSD manufacturers or labels that each of you had dissappointments?
<FR^2>
My disappointment was clearly with sandisk 32GByte microSD cards
<utente>
FR^2, why are u disappointrd?
<FR^2>
damaged cards, three in a row
<lunra>
When I got a 1GB Sandisk (or maybe it was another manufacturer, but I think it was sandisk) microSD several years ago, I got a card that shipped with multiple bad blocks, which was annoying because it had cost so much at the time.
<GargantuaSauce>
i have genuine HP and kingston 8GB ones that failed quickly
<GargantuaSauce>
and a bunch of chinese generic/fake ones that are awesome

<popolon>
my noon tests worked
<popolon>
I'm able to boot on nfs using stable linux-sunxi kernel
<popolon>
not stage
<popolon>
I believe there had some regression in recent updates of stage version
<popolon>
will try to use ~2 weeks ago version (which was used on our tests)
<popolon>
nfs is a little bit suboptimal
<popolon>
perhaps I need to allow bigger packets or something like that
<popolon>
the sound of my HDD remember me C64 floppy disk drive now :D
<bfree>
nbd is another option ;) but needs initramfs support to set it up (afaik anyway)
<popolon>
yes, I perhaps use the default uboot nfs
<popolon>
should replace it using kernel one via initramfs, isn't it ?

I didn't know u-boot talked nfs! as for what you should do, that's up to you and depends what your aims/goals are
ykchavan has joined #cubieboard
<popolon>
netboot use nfs yes
<popolon>
since some decade now
<bfree>
I see u-boot can indeed talk nfs (I always think tftp, bootp/dhcp). after that your rootfs can be on whatever your kernel(+initramfs) supports e.g. nfs or nbd (don't ask me what other network rootfs possibilities there are in practice)
<popolon>
ok, understood, that was still the ubuntu db tools that was recursively scan my disks, killed, now hdd are quiet
<popolon>
bfree, no
<popolon>
my kernel is get by nfs
<popolon>
i didn't activated tftp
<popolon>
that's an option
<popolon>
the dhcp command get kernel by tftp if you set the automtic method at on
<popolon>
(uboot dhcp command)
