how can one establish serial communication with A20 cubieboard2 when the board and the laptop doesn't have rs232 interface? is there serial tools using USB on both sides? (want to use uBoot and need terminal connected)
<ttmrichter>
toko789: The Cubieboard has a serial interface. (Not RS232, but 3.3V version of it.)
<ttmrichter>
And USB->serial TTL adaptors are a dime a dozen.
<ttmrichter>
I have about five that I just kind of ... got somehow. Never paid for one (directly).
<mnemoc>
there are also cheap ttl to rs232/db9 (max232-based) adapters
<toko789>
will it work if both ends have USB? Or do I need USB -> RS232 female -> rs232 male -> usb ?
<mnemoc>
ttl -> rs232 female -> rs232 male -> usb
<mnemoc>
or skip rs232 entirely using a ttl -> usb adapter
<ttmrichter>
My Cubieboard came with one.
<ttmrichter>
But I'm not sure if that was part of the kit that was sent with it or if that was "value added" by the guy who gave me the board.
<toko789>
alright, thx so far - start crawling my cable-boxes
<mnemoc>
just be sure to never plug the vcc pin, only the other 3
<mnemoc>
ttl/usb adapter tend to be 5V, so the vcc might fry your CB
<toko789>
kk - thx for this warning
<toko789>
one of you can tell me how are the chances to get an android image on A20 to work with a ELO touchscreen device (touch by USB)?
<toko789>
read a lot already on forum/group of different issues, but not yet found out for android what to do. Fex and script.bin or will touchdriver need to be compiled into kernel myself or can use a .ko module... I'm certainly willing to learn and find out myself... just any hint into right direction would be very kind... (before I used up all my IRC-credits here)

The picture's taking forever to load (bandwidth is filled with piracy), but if this "light" isn't a burning in effigy I don't want to wait. :P
<popolon>
pirates are still really active on Internet seas :)
<ttmrichter>
I'm the one pirating. :P

(To be fair, they're not showing Sons of Anarchy in my region so it's not as if they're losing anything.)

Bwahaha, nice one ttmrichter :). Is SoA that good? (I guess you wouldn't watch it if it wasn't ;) )

lunra: I like SoA, yeah. Not as good as Breaking Bad, but IMO perhaps a bit better (only a bit!) than The Sopranos.

I've not watched any of the recent things, but I'm looking for something to put in the background... looks like Breaking Bad it is ;). I've got IRL friends who watch that, too. They keep asking me about chemistry now...

If you do pick up SoA, skip over from when they go to Ireland until they come back.
<ttmrichter>
That phase was stupid.

brand new cubie2 - how can I access/update script.bin file of the android image in NAND? Is there a howto?
<mnemoc>
just mount nanda as vfat

mnemoc: can I do that from a remote machine? or only by the TTL connection?
<mnemoc>
adb tcp + busybox mount should do
<mnemoc>
assuming you are running android on it

<toko789>
mnemoc: stupid me... you mean I can do that by installing busybox on the running NAND-android, right?
<mnemoc>
it usually comes preinstalled
<n01>
mnemoc: how's life
<mnemoc>
stormish but still fine
<mnemoc>
n01: and you?
<n01>
uh, boring life, nothing exciting
