<utente>
few kB.
<utente>
it is CLI
<FR^2>
My first idea was the wiki, but I'm not so sure and I'm certainly not long enough with all the sunxi-stuff to propose ;)
<utente>
FR^2, send me in private an email account, i can send to you.
<FR^2>
And what should I do with it? ^^
<utente>
maybe to use it?
<utente>
if u want, oif course.
<utente>
i had impression you was interested, maybe im wrong.
<GargantuaSauce>
start by putting it in a public source repository like github
<FR^2>
utente: Not directly, currently I'm dealing with more basic issues ;)
hipboi has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]

FR^2, never tried, but it should not be difficult: on uSD the basic directories and the big one on sata (usr, home, etc), isnt it?
<FR^2>

<FR^2>
"should work", but I'll try these days again. Maybe flashing the image to the microSD card didn't succeed

GargantuaSauce: what would I have to change in a normal sdcard image in order to tell the kernel that the rootfs is /dev/sda1?
<popolon>
FR^2, that's the focus image, I used it
<popolon>
only need to dd full sectors
<popolon>
sorry
<popolon>
few sectors
<popolon>
but write all is easier
<GargantuaSauce>
just root=/dev/sda1 in uEnv.txt
<FR^2>
GargantuaSauce: Will try these days
<GargantuaSauce>
(which just gets appended to the kernel invocation like you see in any other bootloader)
<FR^2>
popolon: I just wrote the uSD_cubie_boot_sda1.img.xz to the microSD using dd if=uSD_cubie_boot_sda1.img of=/dev/sde

do you have a serial wire ?
<popolon>
to see if there is something broken on your system
<popolon>
like sata port/wire/disk
<popolon>
and do you have copied the modules (or focus image) on you HDD ?
<popolon>
without modules it shoudln't work
<popolon>
and sata disk must work => not lot of bad block, like mine
<popolon>
^^
<utente>
FR^2, if i can suggest, here it is: 1. be sure uSD is working (witrhout use sata disk a t all) 2. move one-at-the-time directories to sata, modifi acocrdingly /etc/fstab: copy /var in sda1, modify /etc/fstab, reboot and see if it works. Repeat the process for all directories you cna do (/usr, /home, etc).
<FR^2>
utente: Could be a good way to transfer :)
<utente>
move /usr -> sda1, /home -> sda3, etc
<FR^2>
popolon: I'll reactivate the serial boot console on the cubieboard (or rather, use it, since its activation depends on the boot image)
<utente>
FR^2, the *olny* way is to do step-by-step as i suggest, other way can give confusing.
<utente>
and difficult bugsmashing.
<GargantuaSauce>
i disagree. smearing your fs across multiple disks is confusing as hell
<popolon>
FR^2, you also need enough power for cubie2+sata2+ other usb stuff
<popolon>
else you could have strange io errors on disks
<FR^2>
the power supply is 3A, so should suffice.
<FR^2>
I'll try.
<popolon>
GargantuaSauce, +1, that was a good habit few decades ago, as you can move some parts independently
<FR^2>
At the moment I have too many projects that I _could_ work on; The result being that most of the time I do feeble attempts and then give up ;)
<popolon>
but looks better to have the whole together eventually data and system on differents fs is using ssd+hdd

Since there are no checksums given, how could I check the sdcard for errors?
<FR^2>
But since I assume that the writing succeeded. How could I track the boot process? I have serial port connected, it boots android and that's it.

What's the default mode of the cubieboard2's serial console? 115200 8N1?

Hi all, I got a broken cubieboard1 for free. Otherwise it functions fine, but the usb-otg connector has broken off of the mainboard. Is there a way to flash an image into the nand without using the usb otg connector?
<FR^2>
*lol* and I just now saw that I tried to connect to /dev/ttyS0 instead of /dev/ttyUSB0 and wondered why nothing was being seen ;)
<FR^2>
Teehehee: I'm a total newbie, but you could boot from a microSD card and access /dev/nand from there, I think.
<popolon>
on my card, I already have a boot.cmd
<popolon>
that looks like uEnv.txt ?
<Teehehee>
FR^2, if I have Linaro Ubuntu installed on a µ-sd card, can I just dd the image from there to /dev/nand and it will work when I boot it, or do I need to do something more than that?
<FR^2>
Teehehee: I don't know.
<FR^2>
Teehehee: But I guess not.
ohama has joined #cubieboard
<Teehehee>
Ok, thanks, I'll try that a bit later, if no one else has any opinions on this.
<FR^2>
Just be patient ;)
<Teehehee>
I was considering soldering the usb-otg connector back onto the board, but I'd much rather get around the issue.
<FR^2>
popolon: Ha! Using a working sdcard was the key :D
<FR^2>
Booted linaro from ssd :D *\o/*
<FR^2>
Teehehee: as I said, booting from microSD and installing an image designed for the nand onto the nand should just work
<popolon>
cool

So, right now I'm using pincers to happily destroy that sandisk microSD card :D
