hi, i have A13-OlinuXino board with battery (original from olimex). if i do "halt" command, the board shut down but do also restart. so i do "halt -f" and the board shut down and no reboot. but if i want to reboot it, i must unplug/plug the main power supply AND also the battery! if i do unplug/plug only the main power supply, the board DOES NOT boot. someone has the same behaviour? somehone know how to solve?
<KotCzarny>
dont halt. or maybe prepare mini uboot/kernel that would watch for some gpio/ir events
<KotCzarny>
maybe add a switch on your battery cable
<utente>
KotCzarny, halt is neeed to do a "clean" shoutdown when software detect main power is absent, so battery give some moment to allow clean shutdown.
<utente>
all a whitch to battery is hard to do (nottecnocally but for other reasons)
<KotCzarny>
maybe reboot to some ramdisk based minios that will rebooot again when power comes back?
<utente>
mmm too much complecate, whe are short of time and now we got this mess with battery. to us now A13-OlinuXito is renamed "maloox" board.
<KotCzarny>
does it mean anything?
<KotCzarny>
maybe write to olimex that you need physical power on/off switch
<KotCzarny>
maybe coupled with a relay that will turn on device on power
<utente>
maloox it the name of a medicine agaisnt thomach ache, olimex give us a lot ostomach ache, iit is a joke, never mind :-)
<KotCzarny>
:)
<miasma>
would a reset switch work, if you want to wake the board again
<utente>
rele' seems a god idea, i will refer to my hardware guy
<miasma>
e.g. with raspberry pi, when it halts, it can be restarted with reset
<KotCzarny>
but it should be smart one (ie. with mcu) that will react on different situations as needed
bonbons has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<KotCzarny>
bad part is that relay board might be more expensive than a13 ;)
<utente>
hahaha yes
<KotCzarny>
but hmm, relay controllable via gpio might simply cut off battery as the last action during halt
<KotCzarny>
so it may be even a dumb one
<KotCzarny>
and external power would switch the relay back
<KotCzarny>
(or a button)

<utente>
battery shout power also rele i think so if main power go away, rele still allow battery to power the board
<KotCzarny>
anyway, that's the idea, because i have never seen any way to reset board without cutting power once its halted
<miasma>
depends on the board. like i said, on rpi there are two pins you can short and it works
<miasma>
but the original version didn't support it, they added it later

Hi. Is there a way to use sysdig on armbian? HW:banana pi
<Sakami>
Because the armbian kernel does not have HAVE_SYSCALL_TRACEPOINTS, sysdig-probe cannot be built
<KotCzarny>
recompile kernel
<Sakami>
I'm trying to locate a trojan that is peroidically communicating on port 8087
<jernej>
remove disp_para=405 and you are good even without HDMI support in U-Boot
mzki has joined #linux-sunxi
<KotCzarny>
still, having hdmi in uboot is nice too. thanks for the tip
<jernej>
glad to help
<jernej>
well, this may even solve your display issues, because video driver is initialized a bit differently than in U-Boot
<KotCzarny>
is it going to be merged to mainline uboot?
<jernej>
I will post RFC soon
<KotCzarny>
cool!
<jelle>
Merge window is still open for uboot :)
<KotCzarny>
shall i test anything else?
<KotCzarny>
hmm, power down in droid doesnt work anymore
<KotCzarny>
it just reboots instead of sleeping in v. low power and waiting for ir/power key

H3 HDMI in mainline? yay!
<jernej>
willmore: U-Boot
<jernej>
but it can be used together with simplefb driver in Linux kernel
<willmore>
Ahh, okay. Still good!
<jernej>
willmore: But WIP H3 HDMI driver exists on sunxi mail list if you want to have it

jernej, I'm reading along, but not playing along. Maybe later in the year if I get some free time.
<KotCzarny>
hmm, it looks like resolution set by uboot is unstable, ie disturbed by cpu/mali activity
<KotCzarny>
when i reset it in settings, artifacts are going away

it might get unnoticed because: 1/ in uboot you dont do much, 2/ linux either doesnt do mali in testing cases?
<jernej>
KotCzarny: I noticed that with BSP kernel, artifacts happened when both outputs, TV and HDMI, were active
<jernej>
but I didn't run Android once, so I really don't know what's going on
<KotCzarny>
might be the case, horizontal waves ?
<jernej>
no, more like multiple white dots or short lines briefly showed, every minute or so
<KotCzarny>
nope. not that. its more like old vhs horizontal distortions
<jernej>
ok, then I don't know
<jernej>
did you try without the kernel argument I mentioned?
<KotCzarny>
not yet
<jernej>
highly recommended, because everything will get reinitialized with expected values
<KotCzarny>
mhm, gonna try tomorrow, sleepy time soon
