Hi! As usual, there is two boot loaders; u-boot SPL and then u-boot. Are there any way to just skip the second u-boot? I'm running everything on uSD-card.

How does PWM work, how many pins support PWM on A20?
<afaerber>
kivutar, hm, I am able to boot with systemd 210 - gmac wasn't really working for updating (making it built-in rather than module helps, but still wrong mac and got systemd errors trying to restart network)

these issues appears starting from systemd 213 anyway

speakman: I guess abelloni might be able to help you understanding how PWMs work on A20 (he submitted a driver to support these PWMs in mainline)
<speakman>
bbrezillon: Thanks, but it looks like there is only two PWM channels (and hence only two PWM-enabled pins) and that's not enough for me anyway. :/
<speakman>
On the other hand; do any of you know if A20 GPIO can be set to Open Drain?

if you want to driver steppers, you probably want to have a look at the A31 pwm
<abelloni>
I mean DC motors
<abelloni>
speakman: I would think that putting the gpio as input will set it as open drain
Gerwin_J has joined #linux-sunxi
<abelloni>
I didn't have a look at it though
<speakman>
btw, can pullup be enabled within Linux sysfs?
<speakman>
abelloni: then I will have to switch direction to out and set to 0 when "activating" the pin?
<speakman>
(open drain is fundamental in ARM, I just have to figure out how to enable it..)
<speakman>
even the kernel docs suggest using the direction for open drain if not available otherways. :)
<abelloni>
I would says so yes
<speakman>
And, finally, how would you control GPIO from an application? Through sysfs or some gpio library?
<abelloni>
sysfs is definitely the way to go
<speakman>
Ok, thanks :)
<speakman>
There will be a whole bunch of open() system calls. Are there any better ways? libudev?

maybe but this is actually the only interface that you have

so you don't have many choices

That's true.

Any idea regarding enabling pullup by sysfs?

Hi, clould someone please help me? Having some issue with porting i2c driver to a13 platform for linux 3.0.15. Driver is loaded as module, _init() function is being called but _probe funcion does not. Usually there is some board file where you can register devices by hand, but I can not find this file for a13 platform, what is the proper way of adding new i2c device?

<ssvb>
oliv3r: running tests with the updated u-boot are going to be very much welcome, thanks
<oliv3r>
I will try to find time for those on my CB3

i'll get back to you on that

<ssvb>
oliv3r: tried to look into the sunxi-3.4 mmc code, and it was really scary
<ssvb>
oliv3r: I guess, I just need to run the same tests with the mainline kernel
<oliv3r>
the mmc code on 3.4 was scary?
<oliv3r>
yeah
<oliv3r>
i really don't want to use 3.4 in our product (we only need some basic stuff for now)
<oliv3r>
but nand flash is one of them
<oliv3r>
flash, spi, usb is the bare minimum we need to get away with
<ssvb>
I suspect that there might be some wrong clock divisor selected somewhere, or just the code is racy itself
bonbons has joined #linux-sunxi
<ssvb>
oliv3r: if I were making a product, I would not use the 3.4 kernel either :)
<ssvb>
oliv3r: or at least tried to review it more thoroughly for every important feature if the mainline kernel did not exist
<oliv3r>
yeah
<oliv3r>
but I don't have the time to fix the nand flash driver before november :p
<ssvb>
oliv3r: about nand, is it cheaper than emmc?
<oliv3r>
lime doesn't come with emmc :(
<oliv3r>
we're using existing hardware, do not have time and expertise to develop a board
<oliv3r>
and, opensource wise, nand flash is better :p, emmc has embedded firmware, nand, once implemented, should be truely oss

But doesnt the WiFi module have MAC flashed into it? How it happens on all desktop cards?

wifi DOES have mac, but those are 'standard' USB modules and thus don't require you to set a mac, the factory did that
