<amitk> wens: I discovered this thread about your work to get the AP6210 working: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/linux-sunxi/X75nghXpOkU
<wens> yes?
<amitk> wens: do you know if the AP6330 have similar fex requirements - 1 gpio for power, one for wakeup, interrupt, etc.
<amitk> has anybody succeed in getting 6330 to work?
<wens> most likely yes
<wens> as for getting 6330 to work, AFAIK not many devices use it
<amitk> wens: ok, another question - does the AP6xxx name stand for the combo package of a wifi chip and a BT chip? I can't find reliable document stating which wifi and BT chip is in which combo package
<wens> AP6xxx is manufactured by AMPAK, no public documents exist for them
<amitk> I just found something along the same lines: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?6726-AP6330
<wens> the SDIO wifi is easy to figure out, just get it powered on, and you can dig up the product IDs from the SD bus
<wens> nah, it's a bcm40183 wifi chip, and some unknown BT chip
<wens> well, that's what Allwinner's AP6xxx android porting guide says anyway
<amitk> I haven't gotten the sdio bit to power on yet, hitting this error: failed to power up wifi chip, retry again (4 left)
<wens> the BT chip doesn't need a driver, just toggle some GPIOs, a clock, and load the firmware
<amitk> I am using the bcmdhd driver on the 3.4 kernel (need a display)
<wens> can't help you with 3.4 kernel
<amitk> wens: understand
<wens> you have to find a version of bcmdhd that works for you
* amitk will try out the sunxi-devel branch
<wens> with sunxi-devel, you'll have to make sure the GPIO in the DT matches what's in your fex file
<wens> and there's a good chance the brcmfmac driver won't support the AP6330
<wens> but at least you can figure out which chip it is, after it's powered on

<ssvb> [7] you can easily verify this by disabling CMA in the kernel config

<[7]> (although it might be a good idea for cedar based on what I've read)
<[7]> do recent linux-sunxi kernels use CMA memory for disp? that might explain things...
<ssvb> well, one more possible reason is the removal of the special 64MB boot time memory reservation for mali

<[7]> dack: depends on the module
<[7]> check the Kconfig file of the module to figure that out
<dack> codekipper: are you trying to use rtl8723as for your kernel module?
<codekipper> dack, yes
<codekipper> 2secs on the config
<dack> I'm not really familiar with some of the hardware interfaces... I just saw that the rtl8723 shows up under 'lsusb' so I assumed it was connected to the usb. Can you access it with SDIO?
<codekipper> I'm also unsure why it shows in lsusb. That's why i've added that bit to the bottom of the fex which may not be needed
<dack> codekipper: did you change much to the config beyond the default for sun7i?
<codekipper> maybe...let me just check the patches
<codekipper> ahh....this one I was using for my sound driver tidy ups so there may of been some changes for that
imcsk8 has joined #linux-sunxi
<dack> codekipper: where did you get those fex values from?
<codekipper> actually doesn't look like I've changed anything.
<codekipper> fex came from further up in the file.....had to rename what's labelled as wifi_para
<codekipper> I've asked if anybody has a working wifi driver on A20 hardware 3.4 track and I got only one reply and they were using mainline
<codekipper> the fex params need to be modded for 3.4 kernel support I think
<dack> codekipper: when you say mainline, do you mean something other than in the linux-sunxi repo?

<codekipper> I refer to the work that mripard and others are doing and hans is porting into the sunxi-devel branch
<dack> codekipper: I think that may be too bleeding edge for what I'm doing... :)
<dack> codekipper: did the guy who said he got it working do it via USB or SDIO? :)
<codekipper> yeah..I need dma so I'm stick sticking with 3.4

<codekipper> another thing is that there isn't any drivers in the mainline sunxi kernel for rtl8723as (just the au)
<dack> hmm..
<dack> codekipper: do you know if it's possible to mount the internal storage on the mk808c from in linux? I don't see any /dev/nand* files
<[7]> dack: you need a kernel which supports that
<codekipper> I've never tried doing anything with nand
<[7]> does someone have a clue how to debug a non-working touchscreen?
<dack> k.. I've done it on the cubieboard, but maybe the default config doesn't have nand support built in...
<codekipper> [7], how is it connected?, spi?
<[7]> codekipper: good old 8 bit parallel nand
<codekipper> do you get the interrupts?
<[7]> ah lol
<[7]> mixing up topics ;)
<codekipper> dack, what is your plans with the mk808
<dack> codekipper: world domina... er.. an access point for wearable bluetooth sensors
<codekipper> so i guess getting the bt chip working is a must
<codekipper> I'll dig mine out again and have another play with it
<codekipper> but don't let me stop you trying to beat me to it
<dack> codekipper: yeah, I'm hoping to get the BT working too.
<dack> I really which companies would provide their own linux drivers!!! it's pretty common on embedded systems!
<[7]> codekipper: hm, TSCalibration doesn't show any reaction to touches

<dack> codekipper, [7]: I've got the 'nand' module compiled and loaded but I still don't see anything in /dev/nand* . Any ideas?
kivutar has joined #linux-sunxi
<[7]> maybe you're just missing the device nodes?
<dack> [7]: they're not created automatically after detecting the nand?
<[7]> not sure if udev is clever enough for that
<[7]> /dev/nand should be block major 93 minor 0, /dev/nanda is minor 1, and so on
<dack> [7]: on the cubieboard it seems to be automatic... the default image had ~6 partitions and then after I changed it to 2 it only gave /dev/nanda and /dev/nandb
<[7]> it probably needs some userspace help for that
<[7]> anyway, try just creating these nodes using mknod, and check if you get a "no such device or address" error when trying to access them

<dack> [7]: no dice.. maybe I need to modify the fex some how... I was hoping to see what the base fex was for the device.
