<mirko> as it was pretty much in the night when i asked my question: it seems, compared to the Raspberry-Pi e.g., that the SPI clock polarity on the H3 (by default) is inverted (default-high). according to the kernel docs, there's the 'spi-cpol'-flag, however that doesn't have any effect on my signal. can the spi clock polarity be changed at all or is it a HW-limitation?
fkluknav has joined #linux-sunxi
<icenowy[m]> montjoie: someone has verified that just set EMAC pinmux to PA on H6 and set RMII will make ATE EPHY work, as expected.
<megi> mirko: have you checked the datasheet? there are 4 modes which should cover all combinations
<megi> whether the driver supports them, I don't know
TheSeven has joined #linux-sunxi
<mirko> megi: will do, thanks
<mirko> if (spi->mode & SPI_CPOL)
<mirko> reg |= SUN6I_TFR_CTL_CPOL;
<mirko> according to src its supposed to be honoured

<mirko> apparently on the H3 a SPI transer is prefixed with SCK being set to HIGH shortly before the actual transmission. the raspberry e.g. doesn't do it. here's a screenshot showing the same transmission from an orange-pi and a raspberry-pi-2b: https://foo.nanl.de/spi_raspi_opi.png
<mirko> can i somehow get rid of SCK being pulled to HIGH or is that done in HW?
<mirko> i know that according to the SPI spec both transmissions are exactly the same - however my device obviously isn't compliant :/

<doubled> Hey all!
<doubled> Anyone tried cross compiling with Ubuntu 18.04 yet?
<doubled> I'm getting this error:
<doubled> Is it because I'm trying to compile in a VM (the error seems to suggest it?)?
<doubled> Thanks for any insight
<Putti> doubled, post more context around the error, and what are you even compiling?
<doubled> Hey Putti
<doubled> I'm trying to compile this: https://github.com/BPI-SINOVOIP/BPI-M3-bsp
<Putti> doubled, ok, can you post more context?
<doubled> sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by context :(
<doubled> which toolchain should I be using to compile with Ubuntu 18.04? The one included in BPI-M3-bsp seems to be outdated? (3 years old)
<pmpp_> "outdated" or "matching the bsp" ?
<doubled> I guess matching the bsp :)

<doubled> Yeah, it is :(
<doubled> But that's what I have
<pmpp_> well return; for an int is a good clue of bsp quality
