<AneoX_> Wizzup are you sure it was working with previous version? i have found in my job, some a20 chips stucks in dram init after reset. only one working solution found, resolder chip. it may be overheat when soldering or some another hardware reason.
mavkhime_ has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<Wizzup> AneoX_: yes, I am certain it works on a wide range of a10 and a20 devices using 4.9
<Wizzup> If not, I'd have a big problem and I would have to travel all around my country daily :)

<Wizzup> AneoX_: I am just wondering if it's me, or perhaps the way I invoke reboot, or whatever, because I have not seen anyone else complain about it
<AneoX_> burn another version of uboot and try to reset. or test or firmware on another board
<AneoX_> for me, 3-4 chips from 30 was with same problem. i solder all of them with hands, so may be i overheat it, or may be it chip problem from aliepress, not sure
<Wizzup> AneoX_: I have tried both old and new u-boot, no difference
<AneoX_> looks like same problem as i said (
<AneoX_> did you solder it manually ?
LargePrime has joined #linux-sunxi
<Wizzup> no
<Wizzup> I just ordered cubieboard (a10/a20) and use olimex LIME2 as well
<Wizzup> as I said - it works on 4.9 and before, always worked
<Wizzup> it just doesn't work on kernels that are more recent
<AneoX_> i think kernel not the reason, may be u-boot, may be hardware
<mripard> Wizzup: it would be great if you could bisect more precisely what commit is involved
<Wizzup> I will try, I don't have the time yet (and my hw takes a long time to build a single kernel), and I wanted to see if someone else can confirm it. But I will try.

<Net147> Wizzup: I had issue on reboot when LDO3 is toggled it would cause the board to shutdown due to over-current protection, see https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/linux-sunxi/EDvEsbHHqQI
<Net147> Wizzup: which is a design issue with Olimex boards
<Wizzup> This looks a lot like what I am seeing...
<Net147> Wizzup: see the following U-Boot patchset - https://lists.denx.de/pipermail/u-boot/2017-March/282789.html
<parazyd> i thought the problem was in linux's device tree
<Wizzup> parazyd: triggered by*
<Wizzup> Net147: will test this, thank you.
<parazyd> ah
rexxster has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Net147> you could also try making it so LDO3 regulator is always on in the device tree at 2.8V or whatever voltage it usually runs at when enabled so that Linux doesn't switch it off when rebooting (which U-Boot switches back on again causes the over-current protection to trip)

<fredl_> How do I build mainstream u-boot with debugging enabled?
Putti has joined #linux-sunxi
<fredl_> is adding #ifndef DEBUG / #define DEBUG / #endif in include/common.h sufficient?
<fredl_> or is there a more elegant way?
<f11f12> icenowy[m]: there is a gap between the kernel/linux-sunxi and the github/linux-sunxi (for R40/V40 at least). So should I submit patches to the kernel ml? (They would include stuff which is in github but not yet in the kernel repo)
<icenowy[m]> f11f12: what do you want to include?
<ElBarto> icenowy[m]: is regmap documented somewhere ? can't find anything in Documentation and would like to see what it would mean to FreeBSD to support you latest patchset for emac clock
<f11f12> icenowy[m]: for the kernel gbit and usb support for the R40, SATA (in progress), for uboot: gbit support (netboot), PMIC clocking fix.

<wens> ElBarto: regmap is a common API for access to a register map (a bunch of registers, with read/write limitations), with optional cache, across different underlying access methods (mmio / i2c / spi / etc.)
<wens> ElBarto: the really hacky way would be to just lookup the syscon phandle, then map whatever registers the target has
rexxster has joined #linux-sunxi
<ElBarto> wens: ok thanks, I'll have a look at what to do for fbsd, unless I can trick kevans91 to do it

<beeble> so changing the current device will not help
<beeble> is your mmc1:1 a fat partition?
<ElBarto> mmc1 isn't formated
<beeble> i think you found your problem? :)
<ElBarto> well no
<ElBarto> formating the emmc isn't the solution
<ElBarto> u-boot shouldn't loop over and over in an non-interruptable way
<ElBarto> and I don't see ENV_FAT_DEVICE_AND_PART defined on this board (nanopi-m1-plus) config
<beeble> see env/Kconfig
<beeble> it's autoselected
<ElBarto> default "1:auto" if ARCH_SUNXI && MMC_SUNXI_SLOT_EXTRA != -1
<ElBarto> yeah
<ElBarto> that doesn't seem correct
<ElBarto> you would expect that for someone putting an sdcard and doing setenv that it will work
clemens3 has joined #linux-sunxi
<ElBarto> I guess this is to try to solve the problem of putting the same u-boot in sd and emmc for a board
<ElBarto> but I don't think that this default is wise
<beeble> yes, that autodetection workaround is imho quite painfull. same as with switching the mmc devices based on the bootsource
<ElBarto> which switching ?
<beeble> ah, that was removed last year
<beeble> sorry, didn't follow it close enough
<beeble> in de86fc3859f9c9ae26faed6f9d8fc115e1329b4f
<ElBarto> oh that, yeah it was painfull :)
