<mwcampbell> Is there a license-compliant, recent Android port for the A20 that will run on the A20 EOMA66 cards? Or if not, is anyone working on one?
<mwcampbell> sorry, EOMA68

<david_boddie> What are the licenses of the images used on the Crowd Supply page? Can they be easily be used in blogs with attribution, for example?

<mwcampbell> I discovered EOMA68 yesterday via the Crowd Supply newsletter. Looks really interesting. I wonder if it would be feasible to sell a version of the A20 card with Android on it.
<mwcampbell> On the one hand, Android isn't a great choice for desktops and laptops. On the other hand, it does run proprietary applications, and I think that's necessary for anything that aspires to be mass-market (e.g. I want my Spotify).
<david_boddie> mwcampbell: I guess you'd need to find a release of Android for the A20 for which the source is obviously available. It could also be a problem if it needs to use the GPU.
<mwcampbell> I wonder if it would be more practical, particularly for a desktop or laptop, to run Android inside a VM on a GNU/Linux host. The A20 does support virtualization. Maybe Shashlik (http://www.shashlik.io/) could be adapted to run on an ARM host using KVM.

<david_boddie> mwcampbell: Interesting. I don't remember hearing about Shashlik.

<lkcl> david_boddie: people are using them happily and all over the place, ntot exactly sure of the licensing but it's not going to be a problem.
<lkcl> mwcampbell: android's available, i just haven't ever tried it. i have to do the 4.7 kernel on all 4 OSes first, and then FreeBSD...
<david_boddie> lkcl: Thanks.
