<whitequark> from the root of the repo
<azonenberg> that's /var/buildbot?
<whitequark> um no
* azonenberg has literally zero idea how you set this up :p
<whitequark> ansible is a configuration management system
<azonenberg> yeah but i meant, where did you check out the config?
<whitequark> you tell it how the machine should look like and what steps to perform to make it looks like that
<whitequark> you check out the config onto your own machine. laptop, whatever
<azonenberg> i'm in the build vm now
<whitequark> well don't
<whitequark> be in the build vm
<azonenberg> ??
<whitequark> what?
<whitequark> you administer it remotely. ansible is a replacement for typing commands into ssh manually.
<whitequark> so you use it on the same host you would run /usr/bin/ssh on.
* azonenberg installs ansible
<whitequark> you don't want to run ansible on the build vm itself
<whitequark> e.g. one of the initial steps [for a newly provisioned vm] is to uninstall systemd and reboot
<balrog> ansible is an automation system. IT people use it to make setting up a server a reproducible process.
<balrog> Well IT and devops
<azonenberg> balrog: as you can see i'm not a sysadmin :p
<whitequark> not just setting up, maintaining too
<balrog> Yep
<balrog> Haha azonenberg
<whitequark> azonenberg: the idea was that if something happens to that vm
<whitequark> you don't spend time remembering how the goddamn thing was set up
<whitequark> but run ansible once
<whitequark> and get a fresh system that works the same
<azonenberg> While i'm doing this, btw
<whitequark> but this means that all changes have to be done in ansible config first
<azonenberg> anybody have ideas on a fun issue i'm having?
<whitequark> or you don't get the same system as what you used to have last time
<azonenberg> my desktop connects to three different ipv6 networks
<azonenberg> and SLAACs to all three
<azonenberg> but only one routes to the internet
<azonenberg> it often tries to use one of the other two as its default route and loses ipv6 connectivity outside the LAN
<whitequark> sLAAC is so fragile
<azonenberg> Is there any way to still SLAAC an address while not using it for the default route?
promach has joined ##openfpga
<whitequark> I think there's an option in radvd?
<azonenberg> any idea what that is?
<whitequark> whether you advertise it as a default route
<azonenberg> Hmm
<azonenberg> tricky bit is
<azonenberg> i want the router to be a default route for anything on that subnet
m_w has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<azonenberg> except me
<azonenberg> i.e. if you only connect to vlan 6, that should be your router
<azonenberg> but if you're on 5 and 6, 5 should be your router
<lain> policy-based routing
<azonenberg> and you shoudl still get an auto address on 6, but not try to route to anything but that vlan
<whitequark> or dhcpv6
<azonenberg> lain: can this be done with slaac?
<azonenberg> i know how to do it with static addressing
<azonenberg> all of my VMs dont have this issue as they bridge to one subif directly
<lain> azonenberg: I do not know
<azonenberg> and if i 'ip route del default dev eth0.6' and 'ip route del default dev eth0.8' i'm ok
<whitequark> azonenberg: https://linux.die.net/man/5/radvd.conf AdvDefaultPreference perhaps
<azonenberg> ... until it re-adds the route

<azonenberg> What i may have to do is have multiple macrocell FFs
<rqou> I know it has stuff like BUFH that is new
<azonenberg> and then mux the GCK0 FF, GCK1 FF, GCK2 FF depending on which bit i used
<azonenberg> BUFH is not new
<azonenberg> however, in 6 series the BUFH did not have a clock enable
<azonenberg> in 7 it does
<azonenberg> BUFHCE is new
<rqou> eh, a bunch of my previous experience was with s3e
<rqou> which doesn't really have anything
<rqou> what's the large blue region?
<azonenberg> Key at left
<azonenberg> that's the OR array i think
<azonenberg> green is AND, purple is bitstream SRAM and programming logic
<rqou> that's not nearly as structured as I expected
<azonenberg> Well i didn't apply any placement constraints
<azonenberg> and it's not doing timing optimization on the PLA yet, other than optimizing for 66 MHz TCK
<rqou> oh btw azonenberg you should check your IP logs (I finally realized I have a much better GFW bypass for my phone)
<azonenberg> once i have a global clock tree i'll add constraints to that
pie_ has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds]
<rqou> azonenberg: my phone's currently IP is now 136.152.209.60
<rqou> i don't think they dare to block this VPN :P
<azonenberg> lol
<rqou> I just realized that I'm provisioned for their VPN again even though classes don't start for a few more months
