the keyboard is for more extensive editing. e.g., when you want to add new accounts. the wheel would be inconvenient for that. you could still use it, but you'll probably hate the experience very quickly.

yes, you could use the computer. but if you don't trust it, you can use a "dumb" keyboard

and before you ask: no, we don't know what's in the modem firmware but we know definitely modem is off when we say "OFF!" and there's no possible thread in modem online that's not already immanent in GSM principle. Same applies for WLAN and BT
