<GNUtoo-desktop>
hi, I've some questions on nanonote
<GNUtoo-desktop>
1) what's the status of the jlime layer for yocto/openembedded-core
<GNUtoo-desktop>
because there was a layer in some popular git hosting websites
<GNUtoo-desktop>
2) is it possible to buy one in europe?
<GNUtoo-desktop>
ah I see that pluster and Openmobile sells them
<GNUtoo-desktop>
3) can I run GTK+ apps ?
<GNUtoo-desktop>
like pygtk apps
<GNUtoo-desktop>
or does the small amount of ram prevent that
<GNUtoo-desktop>
?
<GNUtoo-desktop>
4) I really need wireless on it
<GNUtoo-desktop>
there is the atben
<GNUtoo-desktop>
is it fast enough to play a webradio for instance?

<wpwrak>
GNUtoo: as a rough estimate, expect to be able to get about 150 kbps for payload data (at the standard rate)
<wpwrak>
GNUtoo: atben/atusb can also operate at non-standard higher rates, but that reduces distance

<GNUtoo-desktop>
ok
<GNUtoo-desktop>
basically the idea is to find the best device for making an software updatable webradio player
<GNUtoo-desktop>
*a
<GNUtoo-desktop>
so that I can update mplayer which will be a dep of the app I will make for it
<wpwrak>
hmm, not sure if the ben's audio is good enough for a home entertainment system
<GNUtoo-desktop>
it's only for webradio
<GNUtoo-desktop>
currently we use the pma430 for that
<GNUtoo-desktop>
but its batteries are dying
<GNUtoo-desktop>
and you can't power on without the batteries
guanucoluis has joined #qi-hardware
<GNUtoo-desktop>
they are inflating or something like that
<GNUtoo-desktop>
I don't know the exact word
<wpwrak>
so it had to be portable ?
<wpwrak>
s/had/has/
<qi-bot>
wpwrak meant: "so it has to be portable ?"
<GNUtoo-desktop>
no
<GNUtoo-desktop>
a chumby would have been find too but it cannot be bought anymore
<wpwrak>
why do you need batteries then ? just connect a power supply instead of the batteries
<GNUtoo-desktop>
beside they had old openembedded
<GNUtoo-desktop>
good idea
<GNUtoo-desktop>
there is no risk in doing that?
<wpwrak>
as long as you don't exceed the battery voltage, it should be find
<wpwrak>
s/find/fine/
<qi-bot>
wpwrak meant: "as long as you don't exceed the battery voltage, it should be fine"
<wpwrak>
today is typo day :)
<GNUtoo-desktop>
ok, thanks a lot!!!!
<wpwrak>
np :)
<wpwrak>
if the battery has a third contact, not connecting a real battery may cause the battery charger to "think" the battery is defective and refuse to use it
<wpwrak>
but most likely, it would simply not try to charge, which you'd avoid anyway
<GNUtoo-desktop>
there are only 2 contacts
<wpwrak>
perfect
<wpwrak>
do you know the design voltage of the battery ?
