<arossDOTme> Anyone had success with background image for fbterm? Will look in logs for replies.
<kyak> sounds like you didn't succeed?
<arossDOTme> yep
<kyak> any errors?
<arossDOTme> nope
<kyak> good
<arossDOTme> the wrapper script in the man page used fbv for the image. I have tried fbi and imgv.
<arossDOTme> I think what happens is when the image viewers quit the last framebuffer gets over written
<arossDOTme> some of what I have been trying:
<arossDOTme> echo -ne "\e[?25l"
<arossDOTme> #(sleep 2 && pkill -3 fbi) &
<arossDOTme> shift
<arossDOTme> fbi /usr/share/decentclcountdown/Background &>/dev/null &
<arossDOTme> export FBTERM_BACKGROUND_IMAGE=1
<arossDOTme> clear
<arossDOTme> fbterm
<arossDOTme> hopefully you can guess what combinations I have tried.
<arossDOTme> search "fbterm background image" to see what I am aiming for.
<kyak> this sleep thing looks suspicious
<kyak> could you try something like this?
<kyak> i.e. quiting fbi/imgv correctly
<arossDOTme> I have. hence the sleep and pkill
<arossDOTme> pkill -3 = quit
<arossDOTme> and manualy pressing q
<kyak> the sequence might be wrong. fbi starts, and it's going to be killed in background two second later. fbterm starts, takes a screenshot. But then fbi quits and resets your fb
<kyak> so you need to mimic the man page behaviour with fbi exactly
<kyak> anyway, this is just an idea, i never bothered to have a background image in fbterm :)
<kyak> i also think that fbv is worth porting...
<arossDOTme> I have tried that too
<arossDOTme> oh me port fbv. not a glue
<kyak> btw, there's also zgv
<kyak> which yo ucould try
<arossDOTme> lol glue = clue
<kyak> i got you :)
<arossDOTme> thanks zgv and an & and a slepp does it
<kyak> oh, so it has something to do with fbi/imgv...
<arossDOTme> yep
<kyak> i've stumbled upon another ugly hack:
<kyak> 1. fbi image.png
<kyak> 2. switch to another tty
<kyak> 3.cat /dev/fb0 > background.fbterm
<kyak> 4. start fbterm with fbterm-bi
<kyak> probably item 4 is just "start fbterm"
<arossDOTme> how to automate tty switch? this is for a script you see
<kyak> there should be a way, but who cares since zgv works :)
<arossDOTme> I would like to know for another project
<arossDOTme> arr chvt
<arossDOTme> so tty was the keyword I was missing from prev searches. thanks for the rem
<kyak> no problem.. i've found this on a non-English forum, so don't blame yourself :)
<arossDOTme> fancy computer self destruct project gets a bit closer to becoming reality :/....
<arossDOTme> :)
<kyak> what are you up to?
<arossDOTme> hehehe
<arossDOTme> ohw..
<kyak> something evil :)
<arossDOTme> press red button>X dies>switch tty>start fancy decentclcountdown > send pass and go command to arduino embedded in black powder/smoke/stink/thermite bomb :O
<arossDOTme> ok maybe not wast an arduino
<arossDOTme> oh, I forgot the asking for correct pass before it begins

<kyak> wpwrak: in a quick glance, is it all good: http://dpaste.com/831680/ ? I'm just wondering if i should go on and try to compile atrf-* and dirtpan, or something needs to be fixed here
<kyak> the error is gone after reboot...
<kyak> # iz add wpan-phy0
<kyak> Could not get multicast group ID: No such file or directory

<kyak> ok, i need to load at86rf230 module manually
<kyak> but if it is loaded, i get at86rf230: probe of spi32766.0 failed with error -22
<kyak> and then i had kernel panic three times
<kyak> sometimes when i plug out
<kyak> or just randomly
wej has joined #qi-hardware
<kyak> with at86rf230 i get:
<kyak> # iz add wpan-phy0
<kyak> Receive failed: No such device
<kyak> (if kernel doesn't panic sporadically)

security is now known as fire_wall
<wpwrak> well, EINVAL is kind of everything :) with we had error messages that were a bit more specific
<wpwrak> something like "foo.c (line 123) is unhappy". haven't found a nice way to do such a thing, though. also, you'd quickly run into the problem that what you'd really needs is a stack trace. that's where things get messy.

<wolfspraul> wpwrak: sorry I'm a little disconnected lately, too many things in parallel!
<wolfspraul> just yesterday I started to implement your model->rc idea to reduce all the error handling, and it looks great so far
<wolfspraul> thanks again! I like those small ideas that make the code more readable or shorter...
erikkugel has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
<wolfspraul> I still have to get used to it a little, but if it holds up I will probably use it everywhere in fpgatools (now just a few functions I was working in yesterday)
<wolfspraul> good stuff, thanks! If you see other small things like that, please let me know...
<wpwrak> (model->rc) nice that it works out well :)
<urandom__> hey wolfspraul, just want to let you know that i like the fpgatools stuff, keep up the good work! i think having open tools ist important
