need quits its job -_-
<wpwrak>
kristianpaul: why ? do you need more time to play with qi-hw things ? :)
<kristianpaul>
wpwrak: yes well, i usually do have time but last week was all day busy and "running" from one place to another :/
<wpwrak>
ah well, the have to make you do real work at least once a year ;-)
<kristianpaul>
lol , yes :)
<kristianpaul>
well, no, i mean just been victim of other people chaos with time asigments..
<DocScrutinizer>
wpwrak: do you by any chance recall the details about audio quality of electrolytic vs ceramic C I once dug up?
<DocScrutinizer>
IIRC the ceramic ones are prone to introducing non-linear distortions due to piezoceramic effects?
<DocScrutinizer>
an effect also visible in their weird capacity/real-voltage diagrams
<DocScrutinizer>
wpwrak: I think if real-estate constrains are not really the main issue, we better stick with electrolytic polarized Cs for audio decoupling
<DocScrutinizer>
IIRC
<DocScrutinizer>
if ceramic, then massive over-dimensioning of voltage makes sense I guess

is doing a bit of non-tech liberation by removing an ipod shaped pocket from a vest and adding a nanonote shaped one :)
<wolfspraul>
:-)
<valhalla>
(not that the nanonote didn't fit in the ipod shaped pocket, but it feels nice not to have it anymore :)

Jon Phillips: Whoa, cool @qihardware has a great new logo! http://t.co/fYWJ1SE1 and I see it here too! http://t.co/1XcUCGvM @fabricatorz ( 177329254156079104@rejon - 58s ago via Ping.fm )

do not like
<wpwrak>
Ayla: it's CNC-friendly :)
<Ayla>
ah :)
<roh>
hrhr
<viric>
very-cheap-cnc-friendly you mean?
<viric>
:)
<roh>
if its complicated, one can still laser it
<rejon>
yes, totally
<rejon>
simple
<wpwrak>
viric: "efficient" :)
<rejon>
I need to post up the clean SVG version of it
<roh>
i'd like a constructive version of it. as in relations of lines and ratios
<viric>
the SVG is thick lines or polygons? ;)
<wpwrak>
roh: donation of laser engravers gladly accepted ;-)
<whitequark>
so 1995
<wpwrak>
whitequark: fashion is cyclic :)
<rejon>
the design is a abstracted chinese symbol for qi
<wpwrak>
if you open front.fpd with fped, the front-cut design is for the machining and front-panel is for the outline of the elements appearing on the front
<rejon>
wpwrak, feel free to add anything to that page I just sent out
<rejon>
feel like there is probably mor that is needed
<wolfspraul>
ah well, I had a little super glue (cyanoacrylate) accident :-)
<wolfspraul>
what happened is that I didn't wait long enough for the cyanoacrylate to cure before tilting the pcb, upon which it ran down the pcb and into 3 USB connectors with plugs inserted
<wolfspraul>
those 3 plugs are now connected for life, it seems :-)
<roh>
ghrhr
<wolfspraul>
I tried to remove them but fear breaking the pcb or solder joints. so next I guess I need to try acetone or nitromethane as a solvent?
<wolfspraul>
anybody done this before?
<wolfspraul>
roh: yeah, well :-)
<wolfspraul>
it's ok. learning.
<wolfspraul>
can't believe how strong those USB connectors seem now, amazing
<wolfspraul>
I mean the inserted plugs. as if they would have been produced like this.
<wolfspraul>
seems the cyanoacrylate travels along surfaces well...
<wolfspraul>
roh: any chance a solvent can follow the path the super glue took into the connector and solve it all?
<wolfspraul>
maybe I can dip the entire pcb in a bath of acetone? :-)
<wolfspraul>
who knows what else that might break though
<roh>
wolfspraul: not sure

<wolfspraul>
cladamw: hi good evening - still there?
<cladamw>
wolfspraul, hi yes
<wolfspraul>
ah hi :-)
<wolfspraul>
I accidentally had some super glue (cyanoacrylate) run into some USB connectors with USB plugs inserted at that time
<wolfspraul>
and now they are inserted for life :-)
<wolfspraul>
question: how can I free them again?
<wolfspraul>
solvents seem to be acetone or nitromethane
<wolfspraul>
have you used them?
<roh>
wolfspraul: whatever you try.. do an experiment first. glue some garbage and try your solvents
<wolfspraul>
should I just try with a drop of acetone, or can I dip the entire pcb into acetone?
<wolfspraul>
roh: let's see whether Adam knows something. whatever nastiness you can imagine, I think Adam did it already at least once :-)
<roh>
make sure you have a window open
<wolfspraul>
don't tell me that, I live in Beijing
<roh>
i am told that air in beijing is like smoking cigarettes.. thats still better than to fall over from acetone
mstevens has joined #qi-hardware
<roh>
not sure if its really that extreme. wasnt there yet
<wolfspraul>
who knows, but of course your comment is appreciated
<wolfspraul>
chemicals should be treated seriously
<wolfspraul>
cladamw: we can chat about the glue & solvent tomorrow, it's late...
<cladamw>
wolfspraul, well...i cleaned and dissolved before, can't find an real english name, and brand, p/n to you now. I need to search more from Chinese products then backwarding to know. sorry.
<wolfspraul>
no need
<wolfspraul>
I will try acetone :-)
<cladamw>
ha... your trial and error will surely give quickly an answer. :-)
