Trying to get RTS/CTS support on A20 UART6. In the Fex Guide the UART6 example is configured for 2 wire mode. Can I change it to type=4 and just set any random GPIO pin to CTS and RTS?

<wens>
clocking it directly from pll6 @ 600M seems to break
avsm has joined #linux-sunxi

it works on the A31, but I never got my hands on a A23 board yet
<mripard_>
how are the clocks set up in the BSP?
<wens>
mripard_: ahb1 clocked from pll6 @ 200M
<wens>
so that'll be my setting, using assigned-clock* in the ahb1 node
<wens>
btw, our clock driver doesn't work well with assigned-clock* in the clk node

<wens>
if multiple consumers, put it in the clk node

ah, ok.

came back up and its behaving a bit better
<traeak1>
when i tried plugging in jack before it always told me it couldn't get good latency
<traeak1>
something about the sunxi kernel ?
<traeak1>
honestly as long as everything woudl be stsable i would think something faster than the allwinner a10 could handle the midi
<traeak1>
btw just use case: i want to use a headless computer to run a software piano for and power a kawai vpc1 midi controller that mimics a professional grand piano action and run the output into some speakers
<traeak1>
the vpc1 can be had in the us here for 1600usd or less which
<traeak1>
building a 50usd or so midi controller has some appeal
<mawe242>
traeak1: i'm also building a midi device on linux-sunxi, but using an a20
<mawe242>
using fluidsynth on the a20 works great, very little latency (although i haven't propert measured it yet)
<traeak1>
fluidsynth?
<traeak1>
i'm using linuxsampler direct to alsa at the moment
<mawe242>
but you need to patch the sound card driver to reduce the buffer size.
<mawe242>
fluidsynth is also writing direct to alsa, no jack involved
<n3rd_dude>
hey, has anyone managed to push the A10 beyond 1104MHz? :-)
<n3rd_dude>
just playing around with it atm and it keeps hanging above that
<traeak1>
i suspect you'd need better cooling
<n3rd_dude>
traeak1: done! :-P
<traeak1>
are you using a heatsink?
<n3rd_dude>
5 actually
<n3rd_dude>
btw, it's a 'naked' board so does that apply still?
<n3rd_dude>
just curious
<traeak1>
ahh the patch i'm interested in
<n3rd_dude>
as a precaution, I added some heatsinks anyway
<n3rd_dude>
it's never too bad to be overly careful
<traeak1>
yeah the a10i have here is naked
<n3rd_dude>
:-D

I don't know

ugh now lame question what does git pul l on the sunxi-3.4 get me

By ALSA. We are runing LV2 plugins.

currently it's 3.4.102-r1
<mawe242>
let me see if my modified rt patch still applies

right as you typed that i found the 102 reference

however regardless

if i solve the latency problem with just patching the sound card buffers
<traeak1>
what else would teh RT do for me?

i guest first things first...check if the patch solves everything
<mawe242>
ah... now i see the failed hunks in rtmutex

must have changed after 3.4.90-r1 then
<mawe242>
hm...
<traeak1>
i went in and started merging
<traeak1>
a bit down it started getting out of hand

save yourself some trouble and don't use the absolute latest sunxi-3.4. use the one that corresponds with the latest published rt patch for 3.4

rt gives you like

a stab at cpu time management

so the system should not go on lunch and forget to fill the audio buffers as often
