<amstan> do i see a more stable kde for minnie in the future? heh
<leming> i saw that.. looks hopeful
<leming> from an arm perspective, that would be awesome to see happen.. i've never actually cared much about what happens on my desktop

<rperier> mmind00: yes but for example on archlinux with the chrome kernel if you don't kick the bluetooth with brcm_patchram_plus the wifi does not work... that's why I askes the question
<rperier> if you need nothing to get the mainline driver working, that's cool

<rperier> seriously... you don't ever imagine how the driver for epson s1d13u11 (framebuffer hw over usb) is a bullshit... if I code a driver myself... a fullscreen refresh (copy from virtual framebuffer in RAM to usb) takes ~250us... with epson driver.... 14ms !!! :D
<sjoerd> that's surprisingly bad even for vendor code

<sjoerd> Did anyone happen to try weston (with the software rendering backend) thusfar? seems to not even show the first frame
<sjoerd> ok fb compositor backend works, so something not entirely right in the drm driver

<mmind00> sjoerd: feel free to send patches ;-)
<sjoerd> for now i'll just always turn the regulator on :)
<sjoerd> mmind00: that reminds me, for the patches for the rock2 device tree are you ok with one patch with the lot (as far as i got at that point) or do you prefer an intiail patch with minimal enablement and then patches per component ?
<mmind00> sjoerd: I think one patch adding the som and baseboard should be enough
<sjoerd> ok
<mmind00> sjoerd: no need to split this into infinity :-) ... although you can probably also take your time, as stuff for 4.3 has most likely sailed anyway
cnxsoft has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds]

<sjoerd> wtf, if i twiddle SDIO0_PWR i get oopsed from the drm driver
* sjoerd scratches head
<rperier> I think that this driver was coded by an intern or a student... seriously :D
<rperier> sjoerd: did you receive your board ? (you seem to work on the drm...)
<sjoerd> rperier: yeah

<sjoerd> rperier: serial, emmc, sd, hdmi, usb host and wired networking are all running
<sjoerd> rperier: having a go at the wifi now but it's being interesting
<rperier> nice
<rperier> did you change a lot of things ? (compared to the firefly )
<sjoerd> i based it on the evb
<sjoerd> but a lot of thigns are quire similar to the firefly
<rperier> ok cool
<mmind00> sjoerd: rperier: I'd guess it's not the fault of the drm driver
<mmind00> playing with the mwifiex on jerry currently kills the keyboard
<sjoerd> mmind00: yeah i assume there is some hardware interdependency that i'm missing
<rperier> mmind00: what ? :D
<rperier> whoo!
<sjoerd> If i simply enable the default pinmuxing for sdio0_pwr (which just configures it as not-gpio with a pull-up) i do get some more output from the mmc1/sdio
<sjoerd> mmind00: ooi just the keyboard or loosing the whole EC (/me assumes the rockchip once still have the keyboard behind the EC)
<mmind00> sjoerd: yep and it was probably just the communication with the ec that got disturbed ... I got a lot of "p"s ... so I guess there was electrical interference when the wifi was sending ... after connection broke down, the ec was talking again
<sjoerd> wow

<rperier> sometimes, I don't compute how chromium developers did to have a working wifi with marvell chipsets...
<mmind00> rperier: probably black magic
<rperier> yeah, I guess
<rperier> :p
<sjoerd> ever seen: mmc1: queuing unknown CIS tuple 0x80 ooi ?
* sjoerd doesn't know much about gpio
<sjoerd> sorry, sdio

* sjoerd wonders why rk3288 seems to have 2 spdif engines
<sjoerd> the radxa kernel grabs the "8ch solution", didn't have much luck getting the 2 channel one to work
* sjoerd wonders if that one is a trap
pizthewiz has joined #linux-rockchip
<mmind00> sjoerd: GRF_SOC_CON2[1] ...
<mmind00> aka it's either 2ch or 8ch
<mmind00> for example the pwm is similar, both an old and new pwm implementation is present
<sjoerd> yeah
<sjoerd> i tried the "old" default one, didn't get it to work
<sjoerd> the 8ch one does seem to work
<mmind00> did you flip the bit in SOC_CON2?
<sjoerd> yeah
<sjoerd> after reset it use the 2channel one
<sjoerd> unless i read the register info wrong ;)
<mmind00> I see the same ... maybe that's only a remnant ... there is also this seemingly non-working ohci controller in the rk3288
<mmind00> it looks transistional anyway ... rk3188 had 2ch only, rk3368 has 8ch only and the rk3288 sits in the middle :-)
<sjoerd> Right
<sjoerd> guess i'll need to add some properties to the spdif driver to allow it to flip to 8 chan if needed
<mmind00> sjoerd: likely ... take a look at the i2c driver, which is already doing this
<sjoerd> Cool
* sjoerd hacked it in rockchip_timer_init for testing for now :)
<mmind00> they transistioned to a new i2c IP on the rk3066/rk3188
<rperier> wifi works on my veyron :D
<mmind00> rperier: mwifiex or brcmfmac?
<rperier> brcmfmac
<rperier> you was right, not so hard (just cp :p)
<sjoerd> mmind00: almost makes you wonder if they've had some beta silicon which had both but it broke in the final version
<mmind00> rperier: and of course nice to hear
<mmind00> sjoerd: a likely scenario ... or nobody tested it anyway, if everybody simply uses the 8ch variant :-)
<sjoerd> well radxa does
<sjoerd> even though there kernel only supports 2 channels
<sjoerd> which makes me suspicious
<sjoerd> *their kernel
<rperier> when do you think that edp will be upstreamble btw ?
<rperier> upstreamable*
<mmind00> rperier: you need to read up on linux-rockchip list mails :-P ... "[PATCH v2 0/8] Add Analogix Core Display Port Driver" from last friday
<rperier> I am not in in a hurry, but that's boring to not be able to use my screen :p
<rperier> oh nice
<rperier> will do
<sjoerd> rperier: did you have to do anything other then tweak the dts to get your veyron to have wifi btw?
<rperier> I just copied brcm firmware.... and that's it
<rperier> no
<mmind00> although I'm still trying to decide if both parts of brcm firmware are actual generic
<rperier> except if there is a problem which requires to update the dts, but not for now at least
<mmind00> I have the feeling the nvram.txt file actually might be per wifi-module using a bcm schip
<mmind00> chip
<sjoerd> rperier: right got a bit stuck with getting it to be recognized on the sdio on my square, so was wondering
<mmind00> sjoerd: culprits might be the vqmmc and io-domains?
<sjoerd> mmind00: vqmmc should be already, it's from an always-on regulator
<sjoerd> at least my multimeter things the vbat and vcc_wl going into the chip think they'r fine
<sjoerd> Would need to check abut io-domains that's not something i looked into
<mmind00> yeah, but if your vcc_wl is 1.8V you'll need to tell that to the rk3288 (via the io-domains node)
<sjoerd> hmmm interesting
* sjoerd makes a note to look into that
