<rperier> I just saw your patch, cool :)
<critch> any suggestions on dealing with Chinese manufacturers and the SDK being incomplete? I have 4.4.4 for a tablet we are buying, but it looks like we are missing the kernel source.
<critch> Using RK3188 chipset

<bashintosh> critch: do you need to build your kernel? If not you should be able to extract the kernel binary directly from an Android build that you can possibly obtain from the manufacturer
<c0d3z3r0> rperier: don't hurry ;)
<rperier> :)
<critch> bashintosh: Yes, I'm going to have to build the kernel. We have to prove certain functions have been disabled by removal of the drivers. Can't have BT on our devices. Strange customer.
<critch> I emailed our supplier. I pointed out the .repo/manifest.xml file shows a ../../rk directory that I am missing. I hope they can retrieve it for us.
<critch> maybe there is a way to reconstruct it based on the .repo and git information.

<mmind00> sjoerd: looks like the spdif now also works on my firefly :-)
<sjoerd> mmind00: \o/ :)
<mmind00> sjoerd: with some stuttering, which probably results from the faulty dma
<mmind00> sjoerd: the spdif driver should probably also handle the audio supply (apio4_vdd)
<sjoerd> mmind00: Hmm, didn't think the square had a seperate controllabe audio supply
<sjoerd> mmind00: is that for the led or ?
<mmind00> sjoerd: the port itself does not have a supply ... the audio ip blocks in the soc though
<sjoerd> Aha
<sjoerd> i'll make a note to have a look at that
<mmind00> sjoerd: named apio4_vdd ... which in regular schematics is directly below i2s and spdif pins
<sjoerd> i'm hoping to be able to do a next update of that patchset somewhere this week but might be next week
<sjoerd> will have a look at the supply as well
<mmind00> ok ... I'll fix up the fractional divider stuff ... seems to work now
<sjoerd> awesome
<mmind00> the only change is, that simply re-writing the div value after the mux changes does not work
<mmind00> as it is not possible to simply write the same value again, and would require writing a "crap-value" at first ... so I'll stay with my mux-in, write, mux-out as before
<mmind00> just fixed to actually work now ;-)

<samuelmoraesf> I've flashed my RK3026 tablet with the original android build. It seems that android is booting normally but the screen is blank
<samuelmoraesf> Is there a way to get access to ADB shell with no screen?
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: adb must be enabled
<cristian_c> in android /system
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: cwm and other recovery images also support adb
<samuelmoraesf> I'll try install cwm
<samuelmoraesf> It's possible to install an GNU/Linux distro on rk3026?
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: is original android image the backupped one from your device?
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: depends, but tablet support is poorer than dev board and mini desktopvpc
<cristian_c> it's more complex
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: I've installed the original image from the tablet manufacturer
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: currently are you using android stock recovery into your device?
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: maybe you should use the system.img you have backupped
ssvb has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<samuelmoraesf> I haven't any backup image :(
<cristian_c> lol
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: you should always backup your system before flashing new roms
<samuelmoraesf> yes, now I know it =(
<samuelmoraesf> I'm using the Linux upgrade tool, I've installed many images but just the original image seems to be working
<cristian_c> you have said screen is blank
<samuelmoraesf> The other images not show anything, just the original image show the blank screen
<samuelmoraesf> I install the image, reboot and the blank screen is showed(and blink 2 times)
<samuelmoraesf> Sometime it show the android logo and return to the white screen
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: currently are you using android stock recovery into your device?
markm has joined #linux-rockchip
<samuelmoraesf> No, I'm doing it now
<samuelmoraesf> worth install a GNU/Linux distro?
<samuelmoraesf> s/install/try to install
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: are there linux distro suitable to tablets, for you? :P
<cristian_c> I don't think there are
<samuelmoraesf> But I can do more things on a GNU/Linux tablet
<samuelmoraesf> like a portable http server or something like :)
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: maybe android custom rom allows to do them, too
<cristian_c> linux distro usually have not a touch oriented interface
<samuelmoraesf> unfortunately yes =/
<cristian_c> btw, installing a linux distro into tablets is more difficult than installing into mini desktop pcs and dev board

<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: now I can access adb, but the system reboot when I send a command =(
<cristian_c> mmmhhh, strange
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: what command?
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: in recovery mode?
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: ls / and cd /
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: yes, in recovery mode
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: do you use adb shell?
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: yes
<cristian_c> so, adb shell works
<samuelmoraesf> yes, but restart when I send every command
<samuelmoraesf> maybe cwm is broken
<cristian_c> what prompt does adb shell show?
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: I don't know
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: I enter in recovery mode and run:
<samuelmoraesf> adb wait-for-device && adb shell
<cristian_c> lol
<samuelmoraesf> after some seconds this return the shell
<cristian_c> adb wait-for-device?
<samuelmoraesf> yes, just after some seconds adb recognize the device
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: I don't think you need this command
<cristian_c> I've never typed wait-for-device with adb
<cristian_c> I use adb devices, adb shell, adb remount, adb push, adb pull, adb reboot ad other commands
<cristian_c> and
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: It's in the scripting documentation for adb
<samuelmoraesf> "adb wait-for-device - block until device is online"
<samuelmoraesf> :)
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: why do you type this command?
akaizen has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<samuelmoraesf> the tablet take a while to be online, and with this command I'll get access to the shell as soon the device is available
akaizen has joined #linux-rockchip
<cristian_c> ok
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: can't you see cwm screen on y0ur display? O.o
<samuelmoraesf> cristian_c: no =/
<cristian_c> strange
<cristian_c> samuelmoraesf: maybe your cwm is not proper

<bashintosh> critch: worst case you would need the device tree for your device/kernel - you may be able to use the "generic" Rockchip 3.10 kernel which does support RK3188. If the manufacturer can't provide you with the DT, you can try to pull apart one of their pre-built images looking for resource.img where the DTB should be contained. A bit of work but in absence of their help, that could be the way to go.
