<azonenberg_work>
Going to be doing some EDS this afternoon in hopes of identifying the contaminant positively
<SolidRaven>
azonenberg, do you know how to calculate how much energy you need to break away exactly one atom from a crystal matrix given a certain wavelength of laser
<azonenberg_work>
SolidRaven: No, I don't
<azonenberg_work>
I think it would be hard to do because you'd need really precise focus
<azonenberg_work>
Probably interference
<azonenberg_work>
And even that wouldnt work for deep submicron
<azonenberg_work>
E-beam has a chance
<SolidRaven>
azonenberg, kerr lens ;)
<SolidRaven>
that allows you to go precise enough in theory
<azonenberg_work>
Not familiar with it
<azonenberg_work>
Re energy, no idea
<SolidRaven>
Well, I figure I need to break up the crystal bonds
<SolidRaven>
I know how to figure out how much energy I need for that
<SolidRaven>
But other sorts of attraction also come into play
<azonenberg_work>
Yeah
<azonenberg_work>
Sorry, not my area of expertise
<SolidRaven>
actually, using a stm you could probably make seminconductors at minimal possible scale
<SolidRaven>
You can use quantum effects all over the place as well with that :S
<SolidRaven>
Would be pretty creepy if that worked
<SolidRaven>
Actually, that'd make a nice subject for a masters degree
