ELLIOTTCABLE: never got around to getting one
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
so it's got cut.tl/twitter and cut.tl/facebook
<cuttle>
oh cool
<cuttle>
maybe not facebook
<cuttle>
alexgordon: i think there's no solid evidence on anything like that
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
droplr or anything for uploading screenshots?
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
cuttle: I thought the diet sodas used aspartame, which is Bad For You™.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
even Splenda is suspect.
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
hence why stevia.
<joelteon>
ELLIOTTCABLE: i found out why
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
this is all things I was told by my father, so I trust them. ;)
<cuttle>
ELLIOTTCABLE: the evidence that asparatame is bad for you is like nonexistent
<joelteon>
git 1.8's clone algorithm is orderns of magnitude faster than 1.7's
<cuttle>
like, one study on rats one time
<joelteon>
1.7 fetches 40,000 objects
<joelteon>
1.8 fetches 5000
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
I love DC w/ splenda
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
sooooo delicious
<cuttle>
the problem with splenda is
<cuttle>
sugar packets taste good by themselves
<cuttle>
but splenda does not
<cuttle>
it tastes like laundry detergent smells
<cuttle>
:p
<cuttle>
i actually don't really like soda at all really
<cuttle>
but i'm drinking it more now because we can easily get large quantities of it with our meal plans and my roommate is a fan of diet coke
<cuttle>
:p
<joelteon>
ELLIOTTCABLE: what should i do
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
what day is today D:
<joelteon>
tuesday
<joelteon>
do you not know
<ELLIOTTCABLE>

<ELLIOTTCABLE>
I don't know *any* of the things
<cuttle>

<cuttle>

<joelteon>
i hate running
<cuttle>
<3 running
<purr>
Let it be known that cuttle hearts running.
<joelteon>
if i had some gyakosou lunaspiders i would consider it
<joelteon>
lol
<purr>
lol
<joelteon>
the problem might be that git clones at 33kb/s
<cuttle>
joelteon: what is special about gyakosou lunarspiders?
<joelteon>
it's in one of those /fa/ memes about running
<cuttle>
i don't know /fa/
<joelteon>
heh
<joelteon>
i'll see if I can find it
<joelteon>
but i doubt it
<cuttle>
<3 the national
<purr>
Let it be known that cuttle hearts the national.
<alexgordon>
cuttle: iirc the problem with sugar substitutions is that they prime your body for sugar which never actually arrives
<alexgordon>
and nobody really knows if that's bad for you in the long term
<cuttle>
alexgordon: well i mean what evidence do we have for that? do we have data about like insulin levels and stuff?
<alexgordon>
cuttle: not sure, I'm not an expert
<cuttle>
aight
<alexgordon>
obviously sugar substitutes excite your sweet tastebuds
<alexgordon>
which sends a signal to your brain
<cuttle>
yeah but i mean how significant is that
<cuttle>
like do we have evidence that your metabolism is specifically triggered by taste buds?
<cuttle>
rather than say
<cuttle>
the presence of things in your stomach
<cuttle>
or
<cuttle>
presence of actual sugar in your bloodstream
<cuttle>
etc.
<cuttle>
like
<cuttle>
you can't just state that without lots of quantitative evidence
<alexgordon>
cuttle: I half-remember an experiment in a documentary a few years ago (E numbers an edible adventure) which was a blind test
<cuttle>
ok
<alexgordon>
cuttle: some people ate sugar-sweetened, some ate artificially sweetened, and iirc the people eating the artificially sweetened food ate more, even though they didn't know which was which
<cuttle>
ok hm
<cuttle>
artificially sweetened *does* taste different, so it could be as simple as that
<cuttle>
i don't even know
* cuttle
will continue to drink diet soda because of its much lower calorie count :p
<alexgordon>
cuttle: yeah you'd have to ask people which they thought was which
<cuttle>
mhm
<alexgordon>
then get equal numbers of right/wrong
<alexgordon>
though actually, I'm not sure if that was actually the experiment
<alexgordon>
maybe it was they got people to drink sugar soda vs artificially sweetened soda
<alexgordon>
THEN to eat
<alexgordon>
(normal sugary food)
<alexgordon>
then the people who drank the zero-calorie soda ate more sugary food to compensate
<alexgordon>
that would make more sense as an experiment
<alexgordon>
cuttle: if that was it, then the point is that even if you drink artificially sweetened soda, it may be no better for you, since you'll just dose up on more sugar later
* ELLIOTTCABLE
@JoshHelfferich: Okay, so remember t.A.T.u.? Their lead singer went solo, and I just cut her latest video: http://t.co/Kk7BB9KpVx
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
why the fuck does it do that
* ELLIOTTCABLE
test
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
ahhhhhh
<ELLIOTTCABLE>
cool
Sorella has quit [Quit: Ex-Chat]
<cuttle>
alexgordon: yeah that's interesting
<cuttle>
alexgordon: i read stuff about studies that said people eat more to compensate, but they were just like big ol reviews of statistics, so like the people who ate more sugary food were the ones who drank diet soda, but that very well could be the opposite causation, like they do recognize they are unhealthy so they drink specifically diet to take a step to fix
<cuttle>
it
<cuttle>
et.c
<cuttle>
like
<cuttle>
statistics r hard
<cuttle>
:p
<cuttle>
ELLIOTTCABLE: my voice has way improved since the last time i uploaded me singing something here
<cuttle>
i want to put up some acoustic guitar covers on youtube
