wens, indeed, it was a problem with my .config file, and the method to build the kernel, I am now with 5.6.3 up and running, but still without CEDRUS
<tuxd3v>
I will investigate later :)

well, actually it's only gmac_tx_clk for sun7i

huh, seems there is support for generic dpi panel, without needing to introduce compatible string into panel-simple

weren't the maintainers saying no to this for years?

anarsoul: is there any way to specify the DPI bit-width in DT? I know there were some cases where the panel could have 24-bit input (but maybe only doing 18-bits internally), but the board only wired up 18 bits.
<anarsoul>
wens: anx6345 driver currently supports only 18 bits only, so whatever panel supports is not relevant
<anarsoul>
I'm not sure if it's possible to specify it in dts but I guess whoever adds 24bit support into anx6345 will have to deal with it
<anarsoul>
but so far there's only 2 devices with anx6345 supported in mainline kernel, and both are 18 bits

anarsoul: I plan to commit that as soon as drm-misc-fixes gets updated with v5.7-rc1
<anarsoul>
jernej: great, thanks!
<jernej>
btw, don't you have commit rights?
<anarsoul>
nope
<anarsoul>
I'm not sure I need it, I only do occasional fixes
<jernej>
hm... I thought you have them due to work on lima
<anarsoul>
I have commit access for mesa
<jernej>
that I know, I follow lima development closely
<jernej>
anyway, back on topic with panels
<jernej>
new negotiation mechanism was added for drm bridges, which will figure out common format between all bridges

IIUC TCON and anx6345 drivers would expose all supported formats and this mechanism would select appropriate one based on panel definition
<anarsoul>
sounds good
<jernej>
yeah, it's in early stages

my first target is HDMI

RGB 4:4:4 or YUV 4:4:4 or YUV 4:2:0 and 8-bit vs 10-bit
