Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

I don't think the universe is infinite

what do you see with that adress in the neural network? RzMbYEqsn3GtSE7aURVCvvUooVtWbswGgy

without knowing more about how it works, I'd say that it is technically possible to calculate a user's expected por based on their mag, and from that identify from the blockchain the potential matches
<mrtrousers>
blockexplorer doesent give much
<jamezz>
well , the CPID is linked in NN to a wallet address for payment
<mrtrousers>
Ok so you have to be anonymous in boinc..

I irregularly get POR
<pine_cone>
ah thats cool

<HeyMerlin>
Okay, I have a RAID developer on staff that I'll verify this with tomorrow... however... SSDs are different then HDDs. They do not require defragging, ever. The controller runs algorithms that cause the data to be moved around physically to balance wear. The view provided to the OS is not what is necessarily on the actual chips....
<HeyMerlin>
SSDs have random access ability whereas HDDs do not... okay, not in the same way. There is little difference between accessing two consecutive blocks and two widely separated blocks... block size vs boundries, etc. aside.
<HeyMerlin>
Due to the physical layout of the data on the HDD platters, fragmentation is definitely a concern. Reducing mechanical seek times between reading/writing blocks is critical to performance.
<ravon>
uuuh, wth. Is anyone elses mag way too high now?

A jump of that much is a lot though. What does Katiee's calc and gridcorp say for your cpid?

make a "hello world" first
<HeyMerlin>
Just learn it is about right... One thing that really helps... make "hello world" in C and turn off all optimization and compile it. When you understand that, turn on optimizations one at a time and see the differences.
<Peppernrino>
nice idea.
<Peppernrino>
:)
<Peppernrino>
i need to hello world anyway
<HeyMerlin>
Then warp your mind by doing the same with a few loops and simple data structures...

<Peppernrino>
it seems to be a swiss army knife with a big dick in it
<HeyMerlin>
I'm wrapping a custom package of Eclipse for our labs... so many thousands of files... takes forever.
<HeyMerlin>
Visual studio is great for a lot of things. For your initial foray into assembly use gcc on the command line and control the flags.
<Peppernrino>
any reason why eclipse?
<HeyMerlin>
The MS compiler is harder to control.
<Peppernrino>
i thought gcc was linux...
<Peppernrino>
see? idk shit. lol
<Peppernrino>
i have mingw also. for funsies, it would seem.
<HeyMerlin>
We run Linux, OS X, and Windows in our labs... So MS Visual Studio on Windows, Xcode on OS X, Eclipse on all three.
<Peppernrino>
ok
<HeyMerlin>
Eclipse is cross platform but a pain in the ass in some ways.
<HeyMerlin>
mingw is good... great way to use gcc.
<Peppernrino>
so mingw and gnuwin afr frontends gor gcc then?
<HeyMerlin>
for any real projects though use an IDE like VS.

You can develop Android programs with Eclipse if you install the Android SDK (software development kit) but there are better IDEs for Android development.
<Peppernrino>
you think eclipse would be better than android studio?
<Peppernrino>
that was r3ecommended
<Peppernrino>
oh nm
<HeyMerlin>
Eclipse is just a beautiful front end (IDE) allowing you to develop in many languages for many target platforms (so long as you install the back end tools needed).
<Peppernrino>
jesus christ. there's so many cool programs.
<HeyMerlin>
Android Studio vs Eclipse... I see Android Studio used more... it is getting slicker and does not have some of the issues that Android development on Eclipse does.
<Peppernrino>
yeah. i saw eclipse was recommended if you like switching languages in the same OS
<HeyMerlin>
Yes...
<HeyMerlin>

my PSU made some popping sound! :p let´s celebrate that old PSU is dead XD
<customminer>
moisesm123: What?! It's not still plugged in is it? Assess damage!
<customminer>
moisesm123: might've been a bug lol..
<moisesm123>
nope
<moisesm123>
but yesterday I got the new board, worked in BIOS and it then refused to boot
<moisesm123>
just no POST at all
<moisesm123>
it turned off when I changed the SATA Controller in BIOS
<moisesm123>
then it refused to boot
<moisesm123>
then I pot the old PSU to check if it was the PSU but it booted
<moisesm123>
so I discarded PSU as a possible cause for the new board not booting
<moisesm123>
BUT
<Mercosity>
Now/
<moisesm123>
today I put the new board and it made some popping sounds, or so I thought it was the board
<moisesm123>
I changed the board with the old Pentium 4 motherboard and I head the same popping sound
<moisesm123>
PSU is damn dead XD
<moisesm123>
it refused to turn on after that XD
<moisesm123>
but the motherboard itself receives power
<Mercosity>
^^
<moisesm123>
just that it doesn´t turn on
<moisesm123>
immediately shuts down
<moisesm123>
I really hope the issue is the PSU and not the board
<moisesm123>
I don´t wanna pay return shipping fee -_-

Example of a cool feature Peppernrino: We have decided to use a very powerful, internal, digital signal processor (DSP) within the OSSIC X. This mini-audio computer does the complex calculations needed to process 3D audio from devices other than PC/Mac. Our DSP specialists are working around the clock to ensure the algorithms run smoothly across all the device platforms, and our electrical engineers are testing
