<rz2k> I have some serious karma issues, my other ft232 died. :/
<furan> doh
<furan> I have so many of those now from different projects
<furan> usb serial duders tend to die a lot anyway
* rz2k uploaded USB-CDC example to lpc1343 devboard
<rz2k> thats my new usbserial.
<furan> haha
<furan> hey it works
<furan> can't seem to focus
<furan> I've been reversing this driver back to source for almost a week
<furan> and now my brain's like...I'm done

<hackandfab> I've problems with a PL2303 and the mele. I changed the cable and the serial port is configured 115200 8N1 without flow control but the only thing I see when booting is "HELLO! BOOT0 i" (it boots ok)

<rz2k> check voltages on rx/tx on both ends. 3.3v is low, 0 is high.
<rz2k> my old ft232 died with constant 0 on rx
gimli has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<lundman> sure its not your terminal program
<specing> hackandfab: what do you have between the pl2303 and the mele?
<hackandfab> a CDrom audio cable with RX and TX pins inverted and GND to GND
<hackandfab> I had the 4 colour cable from cubie but CD cable seems better
ibrah has joined #arm-netbook
<specing> I wonder what these weird pl2303 out there are ... the one I bought in a retail store 5 years ago is a line driver with +- 13V on its outputs...
<specing> *dongles
<hackandfab> my PL2303 doesn't have any capacitor in it (I searched arm-netbook irc log and found mnemoc had problems long time ago with another pl2303)
<hackandfab> There is a very similar PCB but with a capacitor and a jumper on dealextreme. I've got the one Cubie sells at aliexpress
<specing> I have nfi how my PL2303's circuitry looks like, it is covered in black plastics
<specing> it seems so rugged that it would survive a 10m drop

<libv> pfff.
<libv> it only works with a usb->ttl uart module.
<mnemoc> ?
<specing> ?
<libv> you know the serial issues i have been having...
* mnemoc missed that part of the story
<libv> and the max2232 module thingie i also bought
<libv> over the last two weeks
<libv> level shifter and serial to usb thing: broken.
<specing> heh
<mnemoc> ow
<libv> actual cp21012 3.3V uart: works.
<mnemoc> ah, now I remeber. you wanted to drill the black cover of your mele to get a DB9 serial port
<libv> yeah, which i can forget now :)
<mnemoc> :)
<libv> at least the board is not broken :)
<libv> so my worst fear didn't come true.
<mnemoc> gut :)
<libv> sadly though, i spend 6d a week at the customer now
nibb_ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<libv> and that probably will not change until september :(
<mnemoc> :(
<mnemoc> no summer vacations with your mele then?
<libv> nope :(
<mnemoc> :'(
<libv> the original image on the thing has a noisy wifi driver
<mnemoc> btw, do you know any good reference/sample to port the sunxi-disp dirvers to KMS?
<libv> you probably want to look into rob clark's code
<libv> everything else will be too big a mess
<mnemoc> easy solution, build 3.4, wifi is broken there so it won't bother you :)
<libv> hehe
<libv> did it use to run at all with any kernel?
<libv> any buildable kernel that is
<mnemoc> wifi? yes
<mnemoc> beware there are two drivers, the mainline rtlwifi one which neeeds a hack to be usable
<mnemoc> and the allwinnerized noisy driver everyone uses
<mnemoc> if you modify the usbc and usb_wifi section of your script.bin you can get the usb controller enabled since boot and then the mainline driver will take over
<mnemoc> libv: "rob clark's code" means omap kms driver?
<libv> right

<WarheadsSE> mnemoc or anyone, familiar with any issues with the g2d driver?
nibb has joined #arm-netbook
<mnemoc> WarheadsSE: i don't think anyone has ever tried it before
<mnemoc> WarheadsSE: there is a directfb driver in the buildroot in the SDK hacked on top of vmware's driver
<WarheadsSE> K, it just looks like it is often coming up, or instatiating when my boots shits.
<WarheadsSE> Is that what the g2d is?
<WarheadsSE> a hacked up graphics pit?
<mnemoc> 2d hw accelerator
<WarheadsSE> mm
<WarheadsSE> Havent tried *hard* to get that working
<WarheadsSE> All the base systems seem to work fine
<WarheadsSE> should have pictures of the A100 for you later
<mnemoc> it would be great to make a exa driver using that 2d acceleration
<mnemoc> nice :)

* WarheadsSE hacks up the arch pkgbuild

<mnemoc> re
* WarheadsSE is still hacking
<rm> now, what the f*ck. http://dpaste.com/773601/
<WarheadsSE> heh
<rm> if the machine hostname is not resolvable, build process of kernel modules fails
* rm cries
<WarheadsSE> echo "127.0.0.1 gofuckyourselfkernel.local" >> /etc/hosts
<rm> okay, I fixed this, restarted the build.. gonna take another 10 minutes to get to that point again
<rm> yeah
<rm> but... WHY
<WarheadsSE> for uname a
<WarheadsSE> user@hostname
<WarheadsSE> arg.
<rm> could've just used the hostname
<rm> not trying to resolve it
<rm> and certaintly not failing the whole build if it doesn't resolve
<WarheadsSE> I am trying to avoid doing a clone --depth 1 .. github is barking at me about dling @ the commit :/

<rm> hm
<rm> so I booted my newly built kernel, but don't have /dev/fb*
<rm> which module is responsible for these?
<furan> are you loading the fb .ko's?
<rm> grrrrrrr
<rm> what are they named?
<mnemoc> modprobe hdmi or modprobe lcd
<rm> CONFIG_FB=y
<rm> did hdmi, I have no lcd
gimli has joined #arm-netbook
<mnemoc> that should have brought disp and ump too
<rm> yes, those are loaded
<mnemoc> then you should have /dev/fb
<rm> I don't :)
<furan> what did dmesg have to say about it
<rm> here it is : http://dpaste.com/773605/
<WarheadsSE> that what I kick in the patns when I want to use X
<rm> I tried unloading hdmi now
<rm> to reload it
<rm> and that doesn't seem to have gone well
<WarheadsSE> no.. it never does.
<rm> probably my mistake is building FB as =y
nibb has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
nibb has joined #arm-netbook
<rm> nope, your list did not help
<mnemoc> rm: FB can be 'y', LYCHEE_.... can't. if you want mali/x11
<mnemoc> rm: but in .36 you had /dev/fb and in .38 you don't?
<rm> no
<rm> I had /dev/fb in 3.0.8
<mnemoc> rm: i think you may need to load lcd even if you don't want to use an LCD panel
<rm> built by who-knows-whom with dunno which config
<rm> yes, selected lcd as =m now too
<WarheadsSE> Yeah, I havent goten hdmi without loading lcd :/
<rm> also I noticed that I have 317MB out of 512
<rm> is there a way to have more, and still have working X?
<libv> that sounds like a really bad mess
<WarheadsSE> woo..
<WarheadsSE> github export of a tree @ specific commit: https://github.com/$user/$repo/tarball/$commit
<rm> WTF, doesn't wemac support multicast??
<mnemoc> wemac = dm9000
<specing> Wait, it is not over 9000? :(
<WarheadsSE> hur?
<rm> wemac doesn't seem to receive IPv6 RA
<rm> anyone uses it with IPv6?
nibb has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
nibb has joined #arm-netbook
<rm> yeah, it's got problems with multicast
<rm> incoming ping6 to the Mele from another host doesn't work, until that host is ping6'ed by the Mele first
<WarheadsSE> I havent tried it with ipv6 yet

<DonkeyHotei> so i finally got a usb device cable hooked up to the mele, but adb doesn't see it. what gives?
<RaYmAn> make sure you're using a fully-featured cable
<RaYmAn> Like, the one that came with my mk802 was power-only
<DonkeyHotei> i cut the micro usb connector off the data cable that came with my phone and attached that
<DonkeyHotei> i used the color codes described on http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/hacking_the_mele_a1000/
<DonkeyHotei> it shows up in lsusb
<xenoxaos> ya....but the micro/mini jack has 5 pins
<xenoxaos> so you need to see if it's forcing OTG or not
<xenoxaos> nm....if it shows up in lsusb, it should be good
<DonkeyHotei> the cable has only 4 wires
<DonkeyHotei> adb does not see it
<DonkeyHotei> usb debugging is enabled
<xenoxaos> any errors or anythnig in dmesg?
<DonkeyHotei> dmesg on the laptop, or on the mele?
<rm> WarheadsSE, mnemoc - so on a rebuilt kernel /dev/fb* appear instanly after "modprobe lcd"
<rm> which i did not even have (=n) on previous iteration
<WarheadsSE> heh
<WarheadsSE> so my list *does help
<rm> the problem was that lcd wasn't built
<xenoxaos> good
