<kristianpaul> i'm bit lost, how you add a patch description in git
<kristianpaul> when using git send-email or git format-patch ?
panda|x201 has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<xiangfu> kristianpaul, when git commit
<kristianpaul> ahh
<kristianpaul> i did but is just 1 line short.. as it should be i guess
<xiangfu> kristianpaul, you can modify it by 'git command --amend' or when using 'git send-email --annotate'
<xiangfu> 'git commit --amend'
<xiangfu> kristianpaul, if you don't use '-m' when commit. git will bring you a text edit for patch description.
<kristianpaul> yeah.. but i just wrote a line
<kristianpaul> oops
<kristianpaul> double mail..
<kristianpaul> well
<kristianpaul> n8
<xiangfu> good night

<wolfspraul> Necrosporus: which price are you asking about?
<xiangfu> "<Necrosporus> I found out NanoNote get 1.5 times more expensive, why?"
<Necrosporus> 149 bucks instead of 99
<wolfspraul> because that's a better price for the future and the best price we know how to build a beautiful little machine like that
<wolfspraul> you bought one at the old price? or were thinking about getting one?

<Necrosporus> wolfspraul, yes, I were, but low hardware specs was somehow adding doubts
<Necrosporus> Were there a 1GiB of RAM and 1 GHz dual core processor, I'd though 150 bucks is fine
gargon has joined #qi-hardware
<Necrosporus> Or better 2 GiB of ram
<wolfspraul> so we helped remove your doubts now, good :-)
<wolfspraul> I don't think you would appreciate the Ben and you will probably find something good elsewhere.
<wolfspraul> the Ben can't be for everyone...
<Necrosporus> wolfspraul, I'd ready to pay about $50-75 for that capabilities
<Necrosporus> Including shipping
Ayla is now known as AwAyla
<wolfspraul> won't happen here
<wolfspraul> maybe the next NanoNote will even be 199, I don't know
<wolfspraul> first of all it must be really good, better than the Ben
<Necrosporus> Yeah

<Necrosporus> For 100 bucks I can buy Ritmix RZX-50 for example
<Necrosporus> Ingenic JZ4755 XBurst, 400 МГц, 32-bit
<Necrosporus> 64 MiB RAM, 4 GiB built-in storage
<Necrosporus> 480×272 screen
<wolfspraul> the Ben comes with vim preinstalled
<Necrosporus> better than 320x240
<Necrosporus> That's cool
<Necrosporus> But there's chines laptops for 100 bucks including shipping and it can run Vim as well
<wolfspraul> if that's not enough for you no other argument will win you over and you are better off with those other devices
<Necrosporus> I got one
<Necrosporus> well, I'd like a ben but for 100 bucks including shipping
<wolfspraul> won't happen
<wolfspraul> price will go up, not down
<wolfspraul> we want to make a *better* Ben in the future
<Necrosporus> Why? Ben is pretty much outdated and outdated hw is usually cheaper
<Necrosporus> Current one I mean
<wolfspraul> fine but Ben is different :-)
<wolfspraul> with 'outdated' you probably mean comparing some numbers to other devices
<wolfspraul> it was outdated on that perspective since birth
<wolfspraul> but it's not what the Ben is about
<wolfspraul> I'm not trying to sell you a Ben btw
<Necrosporus> Yeah.. it has lover specs than my PDA I bought in 2003
<wolfspraul> please don't, if you don't totally love it
Jay7 has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<wolfspraul> ok great
<Necrosporus> but there is no hw keyboard
<wolfspraul> the Ben will remain on sale until we have a worthy successor
<gargon> Necrosporus: on amazon.com, you can get a ben for usd 94
<wolfspraul> and at least from me, it will never be discounted :-)
<wolfspraul> guaranteed
Jay7 has joined #qi-hardware
<wolfspraul> we need to advance the milkymist soc stuff a bit more before taking another good shot at a mobile device
<wolfspraul> so for now we have the Ben and I am proud of it :-)
<wolfspraul> but you don't need be, no worries
<Necrosporus> I think I need a pocket device running GNU/Linux
<wolfspraul> ok we will work harder and maybe have a Ben successor that pleases you :-)
<wolfspraul> maybe
<Necrosporus> There's Nokia N9
<Necrosporus> I have tried it
<wolfspraul> those are very powerful devices, amazing stuff
<wpwrak> Necrosporus: you're comparing with devices that are produced in large volume and generally don't have much device-specific open source support. in some cases, they're generic enough that they don't need any specific support. in other cases, they're not, and things will run badly if at all.
<Necrosporus> There's a video core which doesn't work with free software drivers
<Necrosporus> Nokia N9 has linux preinstalled
<wpwrak> Necrosporus: having such things is what drives the ben's value/cost/price up.
<wpwrak> Necrosporus: if we just had Nokia's budget for lighting a bonfire with our money every night ... ;-)
<Necrosporus> Nokia N9 however lacks hardware keyboard

<larsc> uhm s,wolfspraul,wpwrak,
<larsc> so many letters in the alphabet you both have to use the same one ;)
<wpwrak> /nick \omega pwrak
<wpwrak> the renaming is because i'll extend it to also handle modules (the "ex" was for the "expanded" symbol view, i.e., with pin types)

<wpwrak> larsc: it seems to be quite popular. though technical documentation seems to be hard to find. maybe the popularity comes from it using the MALI graphics core, which has been reverse-engineered. (unlike the other, more deeply proprietary cores common on smartphones)
<viric> wpwrak: that quadcore from samsung also has a mali
<wpwrak> ah, nice ! die powerVR, die ! :)
<viric> powerVR?
<viric> wpwrak: have you seen the video with them playing mariokart64 4-players with that $130 samsung?
<wpwrak> on of the proprietary graphics cores
<viric> ah :)
<wpwrak> no .. haven't followed the smartphone scene for a while. waiting for some more walls to fall :)
<larsc> time to bring out the trumpets?

<wpwrak> or just let a million moles dig a little longer :)
