<DocScrutinizer05> happy to pre-announce devuan will build a version for maemo5, so after debian went systemd and thus orphaned downstream distros like maemo that can't work with systemd, we now have a future again in upstream

<xman> That's great news! thx for sharing.
<MonkeyofDoom> maemo can't possibly use systemd because the kernel is just too old?
corvinux has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<DocScrutinizer05> no, because maemo has conflicting owm usage scenarios for some of the resources like cgroups etc
<DocScrutinizer05> so even if somebody would consider moving from upstart used in maemo to systemd (I hardly could imagine anybody would be willing to try) then it still is almost unfeasible because of then conflicts that systemd's feature creep introduces
<DocScrutinizer05> s/then co/the co/
xman has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<MonkeyofDoom> ahh
<MonkeyofDoom> I forgot about the cgroups thing
<DocScrutinizer05> there's more, e.g. udev
<DocScrutinizer05> which got eaten by systemd
<MonkeyofDoom> yeah
<DocScrutinizer05> syslog
<DocScrutinizer05> even networking, to some degree
<MonkeyofDoom> most of those don't sound like fundamental incompatibilities, just things that would have to be ported
<DocScrutinizer05> ~nosystemd
<MonkeyofDoom> though maybe you'd run into difficulties porting some logic
<MonkeyofDoom> there are plenty of problems w/ systemd, sure
<DocScrutinizer05> udev got eaten by systemd and doesn't work without it anymore
<MonkeyofDoom> yes

<wpwrak> (ISM) yup :)
<wpwrak> (underline) hmm, then the box needs a new ID (it's generated from what's written on the box, but i can override it. though not just the GDC part. that is, not without considerable quirking) let's see about changing the ID ...
Pali has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<wpwrak> (ism) in the case of FM it's actually a misnomer. but oh well :)
<DocScrutinizer05> (oh well) indeed :-)
<wpwrak> ID is now FMTXRX. btw, i also added horizontal padding, the popups going into no-scroll-land should be a thing of the past. (they may still end up outside the screen by a few pixels, but nothing like the disappearing acts of the past)
<DocScrutinizer05> I stuill like that linked-wiki concept I came up with, alas it's quite a lot of work. However it allows to add nice stuff like http://projects.goldelico.com/p/neo900/page/ISM-WLAN/ link to that TI e2e blogpost
<DocScrutinizer05> (padding) great!
<DocScrutinizer05> http://projects.goldelico.com/p/neo900/page/ISM-WLAN/ shows a bug in wiki aiui: links aren't
<DocScrutinizer05> are not*
<wpwrak> (links) yeah, i tried to collect all the major links in the block diagram. but of course you'd have to edit the block diagram annotations to place links (or such) there
<DocScrutinizer05> allegedly (according to 'help') the wiki should automatically transscribe URLs into links
<wpwrak> (no links) that looks like a bit of a misfeature ...
<DocScrutinizer05> it is
<DocScrutinizer05> we need: backup of all GDC infra
<DocScrutinizer05> critical single point of failure not under our control
<DocScrutinizer05> NB not duplicating the complete infra, just backup
