hi. as samsung devices also have internal and external sdcard, I dare to ask question here. I have a BN nook tablet and porting to jellybean. I see only one of the sdcards pop up when using usb_masstorage.
<fel-x>
and the phone started to block on a black screen whenever I would listen to music.
<fel-x>
40 seconds into the songs it would block, and sometimes, but less frequently, after a phone call or a text message.
<fel-x>
So I flashed a more recent nightly version, hoping that it would fix the bug. But it started to block again, foricng me to do manual reboots. I tried fixing the permissions, without success.
<fel-x>
So I tried flashing again the RC1, which seemed a little more stable. And now, after flashing in recovery, and rebooting, the phone blocks after bootloader screen whenever i turn it on :(
<fel-x>
Recovery and Download mode are not accessible. The phone blocks. :((
<fel-x>
Please help me!

well.. that one is one of the problems :)
<Espenfjo>
quick fix is to delete system/lib/hw/audio*

<moikop>
It means you're looking for item number 4 on an array that is of lenght 0
<stickyboy>
Ok.
<stickyboy>
So, for auto brightness apparently my array is nonexistent.
<stickyboy>
There should be 6 items in my array.
<stickyboy>
Maybe I should decompile framework-res.apk and make sure my array is there.
<moikop>
If it's a fixed array, check that it isn't overwritten or deleted. And if it gets the info from some file, check that that file exists and you have permisses to read it
<moikop>
Generaly those are the main causes of that error

I'm going to steal someone's i9100g and swap it with my 9100
<pier>
damn exynos
<koud_>
:P
<pier>
jesper dont laugh :O
<doron>
koud_: i'm extremely new at this so it's more of a study than anything else
<doron>
but according to my understanding audio_hw.c is only a stub
<doron>
meaning that the hal that comes with cm9 (or stock samsung for that matter) should also implement the interface
<doron>
and my guess was that in order for the android framework to make any sort of use of it, it must be exported somewhere

<Entropy512>
it's more "damn yamaha" than "damn exynos"
<Entropy512>
exynos + wolfson ain't too bad
<pier>
right
<HillBeast>
More GS2 audio issues?
Dahliz91 has quit [Quit: Dahliz91]
<Entropy512>
HillBeast: yamaha + JB = bad
<HillBeast>
Yes I know.
<HillBeast>
Because of the new audio stack in JB.
<HillBeast>
Have you guys made any progress?
<Entropy512>
yeah
<Entropy512>
not really
<HillBeast>
I see a commit that adds 'yamahamdeiaservice' support.
<Entropy512>
i'm kinda focusing on other items for the time being, like fixing the calibration values in N7000 opensource sensor HAL in ICS
<Entropy512>
anything that gets us away from blobs helps us going forward
Kaik541 has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds]
<HillBeast>
Alright sounds fair.
<HillBeast>
I'm not in a rush for Jellybean anyway.
<imnuts>
you don't like relying on samsung stuff?
<HillBeast>
ICS runs nicely.
<imnuts>
JB runs better ;)
<pier>
nobody like relying on a blackbox I guess
<Entropy512>
imnuts: of course not. black boxes suck
<Entropy512>
especially derpy buggy ones
<Entropy512>
samsung sensor hal sucked on exynos devices
<Entropy512>
light sensor misreported max value
<Entropy512>
only reported in powers of 10
<imnuts>
samsung would change a 0 to a 1 if it made porting stuff harder
<Entropy512>
and had an absurdly low update rate
<HillBeast>
Was this the light sensor only updating every 10 seconds issue?
<HillBeast>
Or something else?
<Entropy512>
that and other derpage
<Entropy512>
crud, made camera on infuse worse
<Entropy512>
time to back that shit out
<HillBeast>
Samsungs hardware is good, it's their software is crap.
<HillBeast>
That's the thing people get confused about.
<Entropy512>
yup
<Entropy512>
good hardware
<Entropy512>
except their fucking defective eMMC chips
<Entropy512>
crap software
<HillBeast>
The Exynos 4210 is still one of the most powerful Android SoCs even one year on;.
<HillBeast>
That's true.
<HillBeast>
Did Samsung make the eMMC in the GS2?
<Entropy512>
yes
<imnuts>
well, put the pvr stuff in the rom, still stuck on the boot logo :(
Kaik541 has joined #teamhacksung
<Entropy512>
they also made the eMMC chips for a lot of Kindle Fires, a bunch of those blew up too
<HillBeast>
Well remind me to continue not to buy Samsung branded storage.
<chrmhoffmann>
what about the omap4 is that slower than the Exynos 4210?
<HillBeast>
Depends what you want from it.
<HillBeast>
GPU is definitely slower than the Mali.
<HillBeast>
But processors, because the OMAP4 has those Cortex M3s for doing basic tasks, it can slightly offload the A9s and that can theoretically make it more powerful,.
<Entropy512>
OMAP4 CPU is about the same, GPU is quite a bit weaker
<HillBeast>
But the Mali is much more powerful.
<Entropy512>
but the software is higher quality, which makes better use of the hardware
<HillBeast>
Yeah seeing the OMAP is more open than the Exynos.
<chrmhoffmann>
you mean omapzoom/ti is better than samsung in respect to software?
<HillBeast>
Most definitely
rodries has quit []
<HillBeast>
OMAPZOOM is constantly updating their repositories to improve support, fix bugs and improve performance.
<chrmhoffmann>
I am working on nook tablet (omap4). the problem there is that the ducati (cortex m3) hw video decoders are not opensource.
<HillBeast>
Whereas Samsung do retarded shit.
<HillBeast>
Case and point from Samsung:
<HillBeast>
I found Samsung made a typo with a variable I think in a Makefile.
<HillBeast>
They wrote SAMNSUG instead of SAMSUNG
<HillBeast>
Instead of fixing it
<HillBeast>
They changed all references to it to say SAMNSUG
<HillBeast>
O.o
<Entropy512>
yeah, seen that before
<Entropy512>
DEFLUAT!
<moikop>
Retarded shit.. that sumarises all up :P

ok need to go to grocery store

<pier>
ciao entropz
<chrmhoffmann>
Well, if you look at the omapzoom code there is also lots of stuff rolledback etc.
<chrmhoffmann>
and they have omapzoom gerrit where lot of code is rolled back or not accepted (from internal TI guys)
<chrmhoffmann>
so I guess Samsung lacks a few senior fellas :)
<HillBeast>
Yeah but at least they roll back the f**kups rather than just let them through which is probably what Samsung does.
<HillBeast>
ie SAMSNUG
<moikop>
lol
<pier>
:p
<pier>
SAMSNUG!
<HillBeast>
Comparing OMAP software to the Exynos software is like comparing a retarded goat to a sleek F1 car: it's just not fair.
<Rebellos>
Yeeee! Talk about retarded people in Samsung, I like this! Whatever you say, I agree!
<HillBeast>
Well my goal for this weekend is to get decompression to show up on UART for kernel 3.x on the SL.
<pier>
do u have a jtag or something?
<moikop>
And probably I should work on the one for G3... been long since we touched that repo :P
<pier>
my goal for the coming week is to grab a maguro and switch the i9100 to a tester platform :O
<HillBeast>
I don't have JTAG
<HillBeast>
I only have UART.
<HillBeast>
And I don't have UART from the bootloader
<HillBeast>
I'm hoping it's not trying to output Sbl to ttyS0
<HillBeast>
Because that's the modem.
<HillBeast>
Everything needs to go to ttyS2
<pier>
lol
<pier>
ok
<pier>
sry :)
<moikop>
The GSL doesn't have sbl output from uart? that's weird
<HillBeast>
Yeah it's really really annoying.
<HillBeast>
I can't control SWITCH_SEL without using /sys calls.
<HillBeast>
I can't change the BOOT_OPTIONS
<HillBeast>
I can't try loading the kernel from specific parts of the NAND
<HillBeast>
It's very limiting
<pier>
g'nite folks :)))

ty for the chat

Bye
<HillBeast>
See ya
<moikop>
hillbeast, the commits you did for the port on the g3, were taken from samsungs .32 or were based on the machine code from it?
<HillBeast>
Which commits do youj refer to?
<HillBeast>
Old commits were based on .32
<HillBeast>
New commits are based on info extracted from .32
<moikop>
Oh yes, I see
squid267 has left #teamhacksung [#teamhacksung]
<moikop>
Thanks
<HillBeast>
Don't take any garbage from the old .32 kernel.
<HillBeast>
as tom3q said, it'll cause more trouble.
<HillBeast>
Just use it as a reference.
<koud_>
doron: hal for sgs2 is a samsung blob no source.
<HillBeast>
If only we had the datasheetsfor the S5P6442
<moikop>
That's my plan. Now that I'm on winter holidays, hopefully will be able to get something out of it
<HillBeast>
Good good.
<HillBeast>
I now have the GSLcommunity asking for progress on the 3.x kernel.
<HillBeast>
And I'm slowly losing interest in my poor G3.
<HillBeast>
I love the device and the community
<HillBeast>
But the device is getting too old now and the community is moving away.
<HillBeast>
rkoby who was a major contributer to the community has an S2 now.
<HillBeast>
And is asking me to send him some of my Kyorarom builds for the S2.
<moikop>
Sadly thats true. The community is indeed moving on. I just wanna learn as much as I can from tom3q and marcellusbe...
<HillBeast>
Even marcellusbe seems to be moving away from the community.
<HillBeast>
When was his last update on CM7?
<HillBeast>
I'm not sure as I dont' follow it.
<doron>
koud_: yes i know, i figured out where i was wrong
<doron>
i actually think that i figured out how to wrap it
<doron>
i wonder why it didn't work for codeworkx though
<moikop>
Hillbeast: Last days of may I think... now tom3q seems to be the only "active" developer
rtfpessoa has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<HillBeast>
Yeah.
<HillBeast>
But tom3q is more devving the Spica.
<moikop>
that's the reason for the quotes on active :P
<HillBeast>
Yeah
<HillBeast>
That's the main reason I am moving more to the GSL
<HillBeast>
It's a better use of my time.
<moikop>
It's been over two months since a real development was done. But... the G3 is a good development platform
<HillBeast>
And they technically have paid me to do it.
<HillBeast>
It is a good platform, it
<moikop>
(at least for me, given that I only have cappy and it)
<koud_>
doron: I think because issues with yamahaservice
<imnuts>
ok, i've run into a problem with the gtab2
<koud_>
doron: but you are welcome to try! :)) if you have any progress please share :P
<imnuts>
i think i got all the stuff fixed related to booting, but i still get no display
<koud_>
I could try help
<imnuts>
the screen turns on, and it will shut off on its own from the timeout, but no image
<doron>
yeah i'll probably give it a try tomorrow
<doron>
will have to figure out how to compile cm first ;)
<koud_>
doron: if you have problem I could try help you with that too :P
<doron>
thanks

hello
<HillBeast>
Hey
<moikop>
Hi
<HillBeast>
So have you guysgotten JB to boot and compile on GS2 then?
<koud_>
HillBeast: I think hacksung has had it for long time
<g|byers>
I guess thats why ics roms have stopped for the galaxy tab 2 7.0 right?
<imnuts>
g|byers i have jb booting on my p3113, just no display :-/
<HillBeast>
Ah okay.
<g|byers>
I believe codeworkx is working on that Its on the xda forum under his name :)
<HillBeast>
Got all the right grallocs and such?
<imnuts>
me?
<HillBeast>
Yes
<HillBeast>
Even if you have to use software rendering
<Entropy512>
g|byers: huh? If P31xx doesn't have nightlies yet, they are in the process
<HillBeast>
I think that's done with egl.cfg
<HillBeast>
android 0 0
<HillBeast>
And nothing else
<g|byers>
Entropy512, it was sort of nightly then It stoped, thats what makes me think they are in the process of compiling the jellybean rom
<imnuts>
i just changed egl.cfg to what i though it would be
<Entropy512>
no, it just reached the point where it could be submitted for official nightlies
<Entropy512>
but the official nightlies haven't started yet
<imnuts>
if i change it to "0 0 android" it would be software rendering?
