<azonenberg>
the sad thing is almost all of this could be very easily done in kicad with some extra features
<azonenberg>
all you need to do is store propagation velocity per {layer, netclass} and per layer pair for vias
<azonenberg>
have a field in the part to store package delay
<azonenberg>
and then do all matching in the time domain, back-converting the skew to mm at the current layer's propagation velocity for calculating the target length
<lain>
azonenberg: yep, that's what I found very frustrating about it
<azonenberg>
like, is this not an obvious feature?
<azonenberg>
I suspect people like me using kicad for designs of this scale are in the relative minority
<azonenberg>
and don't complain enough :p

[starshipraider] azonenberg e90e8a0 - Final pinout constraints for pod FPGA
<einthecorgi2>
I forked starshipraider and got started on the active probe supply. I think the only major point of discussion is having the precision regulator on the probe head or keeping them on the main board.
<monochroma>
einthecorgi2: oh yeah, been meaning to ask you where you were sourcing your SoCs for corgibutt?
<einthecorgi2>
Ah, directly from sunplus. I have quantity pricing, II order 100 of them for the first production run. I need to think of a better name for that board.
<monochroma>
ah okay
<monochroma>
and why? :< it's an awesome name ;)
<einthecorgi2>
good to know :D mabye ill just keep it.
<monochroma>
einthecorgi2: are you able to say what units of 100 are cost wise? looks like everyone else is selling them for ~$20 in singles
<einthecorgi2>
$17.30@100
<einthecorgi2>
$16.10@1000
<monochroma>
ah nice
<einthecorgi2>
what are you thinking about using it for?
<monochroma>
general managment IC for some different projects. so far i think the microchip SoMs are winning due to being availble from digikey, but they are potatos for the price :P
<einthecorgi2>
nice. I was looking for an alternative for an industrial grade application processor from the AM335x. I have just been short on CPU power in the last few applications and am looking for a good replacment. I am going to finish corgibutt anyway but I dont like the lack of peripherals, but for the price im not complaining.
<einthecorgi2>
the downside to the SAMA5D27 is the processing power is pretty low. I would also consider the STM32-MP1 as that have pretty good general purpose peripherals. But it will be more expensive to integrated.
<monochroma>
yeah, i wish the allwinner parts had a vendor other than alibaba
<einthecorgi2>
yup. A year ago I was on the trail to making a general purpose SOM and I started with allwinner. I have a bunch of SOC sitting around. In the end I made an SOM for the A40. I considered this to be the best, but now they will only make this if you order enough for a production run I think. Olimex is doing something with the part but as good as there efforts are it has never caused a change in the supply chain for the
<einthecorgi2>
parts.

I think precision regulator on the probe makes the most sense if it needs to be precise.
<Degi>
For OP amp supply, in the PSU and then decoupling caps in the probe might suffice
<Degi>
Yeah the LT3094's etc on the probe head would make more sense, then you could set the voltage on the probe head
