DocScrutinizer05: hrrm... interested to learn/read about the details of interface between CPU and new modem/LTE module =). AIUI LTE/4g USB-dangles (external or in USB-pins-on-[mini-pci-e] form-factors) seem now to be all ethernet-over-USB and do their own NAT mangling / DHCPv6-handling internally ...
<enyc>
DocScrutinizer05: supposedly older dongles tended to prevent PPP over serial sort of thing, or something otherwise allowing host device to take external IPv4 address directly...

<dos1>
enyc: in PHS8, you can either use PPP over UART, PPP over USB serial or QMI WWAN (also USB)
<dos1>
enyc: AFAIK it should be the same in PLS8
<enyc>
ooooooh
<dos1>
there is also some TCP/IP implementation on the module which you could use, but it's separate and rather meant for dumber devices than Neo900 ;)
<enyc>
i see i see =)
<enyc>
are there actual power/cpu usage benefits for using that exteranl TCP/IP implementation?
<enyc>
i got hint there can be toruble with thorughput or so
<enyc>
err .. if using serial type ting
<dos1>
yeah, for data it's definitely better idea to use USB
<enyc>
i see =)
<enyc>
what about cpu usage / power consumpiton when using higher speed data?
<enyc>
i'm thinking however its' handled its' going to eat battery at one side or other more-or-less of the link;
<dos1>
well, it's definitely higher by definition ;)
<enyc>
ok so ... change subject ;p
<enyc>
How would you source a really good external-usb 4g-client dongle that works in openwrt or routerboard or something else sesible?
<enyc>
seems to be a nightmare/minefield to find such things!
<dos1>
sorry, no idea - this topic is outside of my knowledge :P
<enyc>
ok =)
<enyc>
dos1: i wonder how much maemo-porting/modification will be needed to support the PLS8 in some manner, differentl to the N900's 2g/3g modem etc...
