<MoeIcenowy> yes
<MoeIcenowy> but there're people that think "Raspbian is better optimized" ;-)
<wens> for rpi 1, sure

<tkaiser> MoeIcenowy: Regarding SY8113B and default voltage I think it depends. At least on OPi Zero it's 1.3V by default.
<tkaiser> beeble: Thanks for confirmation. Was only thinking about how RK3399 based Orange Pi PC might use the different lanes: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/3946-rk3399-orange/

<beeble> i know nobody cares about mini-itx boards here. but our evk baseboard has a full size pcie connector if ever needed
<tkaiser> beeble: Yes, it's not M.2 but since there seem to be no PCIe cards available for this slot (only SSDs) this is IMO the better choice. So without a converter...
<beeble> tkaiser: m2 has the problem of different keying. but there are m2 wifi cards available
<beeble> for example
<beeble> but it's hard to do a fits-all with the small form factors
<tkaiser> E key. Interesting. Anyway, Wi-Fi with RK3399 can also be done with SDIO 3.0
<beeble> looks like there is a sdio wifi chip already mounted
<tkaiser> Yep, dual-band/dual-antenna.
<beeble> so i would have gone with a m2 m-key probably
cptG_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<tkaiser> beeble: That's the USB3 only key? ;)

<beeble> tkaiser: it's the only one supporting 4 lane devices
<beeble> and the pcie based ssds are m-key
<beeble> sidenote: 7.28GiB 0:00:31 [ 239MiB/s] i like emmc (read speed)
<tkaiser> beeble: Sure, but there is already one PCIe controller on the board and there's also a SIM card slot so I would assume the mPCIe should be used for 4G stuff.
<beeble> yes probably. overlooked the sim slot

<zoobab> got an A64 pine64 SOM board with the daughterboard, no uSD slot to boot something :-(
<zoobab> will try USB booting
<tkaiser> zoobab: You have to search harder ;)
<tkaiser> zoobab: The SD card slot is there: https://www.pine64.org/?page_id=1491
<zoobab> @tkaiser I am not a morning guy, so just found it out below the module :-)
<zoobab> no armbian support?
<zoobab> or the pine64 image should run just fine?
<tkaiser> Nice, on the SoPine the same 'China Export' mark is silkscreened as on the first Raspberry Pi Zero W batch :)
<zoobab> https://www.armbian.com/download/ did not list it, that's why I was asking
<tkaiser> zoobab: Don't know why it's missing there. But there are 'nightlies' without DE available. And you need them due to different DRAM here.
<zoobab> at the sunxi dinner, the pine64 guy showed us the laptops
<zoobab> everybody was asking about something else then android running on there
<zoobab> still have to understand what the Euler bus does
<zoobab> for me those pins looks like good candidates to be remapped to GPIO pins
<tkaiser> zoobab: The Euler pins are the most important ones since they're the only variant to power the board reliably (avoiding crappy Micro USB) ;)
apritzel has joined #linux-sunxi
<tkaiser> zoobab: You should check pine64 wiki. It's not that mess as it was in the beginning and you find all the pin mappings and every other relevant stuff there (or in linux-sunxi wiki)

<buZz> that nanopi M1 looks kinda applicable, i could use some ram :)
<miasma> zram & lz4 and a custom kernel/userspace with musl might help a bit, too
<miasma> 512 MB should be enough for everyone, it's just unnecessary bloat
<buZz> it needs to do a lot of volumetric math
<miasma> that's a bit trickier

<buZz> (replace hdd led with wifi controlled animation engine)
<miasma> for me that hackerstore is more expensive than ordering directly
<miasma> well it depends if you need to pay the vat. the diff is like 2 euros

<montjoie> MoeIcenowy: just the default "generic PHY"
<MoeIcenowy> and then it will match phyid to call more specific drivers, e.g. realtek?
<montjoie> yes

<montjoie> I am happy, lots of easy review for v3
<MoeIcenowy> the v3 seems to be not able to easily cherry-picked to 4.11-rc
<montjoie> I miss the april fool "dwmac-sun8i is just a satan project for giving pain do backporters"
<MoeIcenowy> we need a branch of linux -- stmmac-rebasing ;-)
<montjoie> but yeah since I sent lots of patch on stmmac... rsync stmmac dir is the easiest way:D
<montjoie> or backport all stmmac patch
<nove> well then, maybe is better to wait for a more official release of this information, and only then update the wiki, or?
netlynx has quit [Quit: Ex-Chat]
<MoeIcenowy> I searched for stmmac and cherry-picked everything
<MoeIcenowy> P.S. fedora seems to used dwmac-sun8i-v2 to replace an old drop of sun8i-emac
<montjoie> normal too many bug in sun8i-emac
<montjoie> and all disapear by using dwmac-sun8i

<MoeIcenowy> montjoie: got EMAC reset timeout on opi1 with backported stmmac
<MoeIcenowy> maybe I should try to downgrade to dwmac-sun8i-v2?

<montjoie> very few changes between v2/v3
<MoeIcenowy> v2 successfully cherry-picked

<MoeIcenowy> montjoie: this time I used v2
<MoeIcenowy> it not only EMAC reset timeout but also WARNING:
* MoeIcenowy roll back to use sun8i-emac
* montjoie didnt see the warning content
<MoeIcenowy> it seems to be a warning appeared when unpowering internal PHY
<MoeIcenowy> but why is it "EMAC reset timeout"?
<MoeIcenowy> (P.S. this time the u-boot come with EMAC support
<Thedemon007> http://pasted.co/661b3962 Which is what starts after sshd in debian? i give msg Ignoring unknown interface wlan12=wlan12.

<montjoie> MoeIcenowy: the reset/irq/etc name chanegs between stmmac and sun8i-emac
<montjoie> so you need to cherry pick also dt
<MoeIcenowy> I cherry-picked dt
<MoeIcenowy> I resetted to sunxi-h3-h5 cherry-pick, then cherry-picked everything after next- tag in dwmac-sun8i-v2
<Thedemon007> mm ok /etc/init.d/networking
<montjoie> MoeIcenowy: why you need to backport ?:)
<MoeIcenowy> for getting ethernet on H5/A64
<MoeIcenowy> as I saw fedora backported them

<Thedemon007> can add modules g_mass_storage and g_ether? or need build kernel?
<kloczek> no .. in my case it is a bit different story
<kloczek> I've managed last night boot first time pine64 out from almost only Fedora packages
<kloczek> it was of course add ATF supoer to uboot (and Im working now on integrate it in fedora uboot)
<kloczek> problem is that after booting I have no eth0 and wifi
<kloczek> simple std boot procedure was not able to detect what needs to be loaded to setup network
<kloczek> here is my boot log https://pastebin.com/0HKLX7ar

<kloczek> in other words +/- this oops seems like Fedora is almost ready to be used on pine64
<kloczek> "almost" still make some difference :)
<Thedemon007> Mm ok what chip wifi hhave pine64?
<mripard> kloczek: there's no support yet for either ethernet or wifi
<kloczek> Icenowy told me that it is something
<kloczek> and only some dts changes are needed

<kloczek> https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1438543 I need only to check those patches are they applying correctly on top fedora kernel source tree
<kloczek> however assuming that some modules already are build I've been thinking about trying to load manually necessary modules
<kloczek> lurchi_: seem in ticket is logged the same driver_probe_device issue. Is it releated to eth0 driver?
<Thedemon007> mm Realtek RTL8201 10/100M Ethernet Transceiver for Pine A64 Board Realtek RTL8211 10/100/1000M Ethernet Transceiver for Pine A64+ Board
<Thedemon007> Realtek RTL8723BS WiFi with BT SDIO datasheets links here: http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Main_Page
<mripard> kloczek: unless they took the patches in, you're also missing a driver for the ethernet controller
<kloczek> after loading r8723bs module into the kernel I see none kernel messages
apritzel has joined #linux-sunxi
<mripard> and hmmm "AllWinner maintainer is looking on it now and hopefully it will be clean this issue as well shortly" what?
<tkaiser> kloczek: Ethernet module should be called 1c30000.ethernet (but as mripard said: you need patches). Boot log from some months ago: http://sprunge.us/CEhR
<kloczek> ok may ask for url(s) of necessary patches? :)
<kloczek> will try to integrate them in fedora kernel

<TheLinuxBug> how the?
<TheLinuxBug> that does sound like an accomplishment of some kind
<TheLinuxBug> The difference between ESPRESSObin and A20 is ... night and day
<TheLinuxBug> SATA performance I mean
<tkaiser> TheLinuxBug: With kernel 4.10.8 performance was great, I downgraded then to 4.4.59 maintained by Marvell/Solid-Run and performance dropped a lot. And it's not SATA performance but a hard network limit since I enabled transparent file compression and 'NAS performance' remained identical (highly compressible data)
