<mripard_> MoeIcenowy: CMA is the allocator, so it cannot be allocated
<mripard_> MoeIcenowy: but it depends on which version of the blob you have, fbbev or X11?
<wens> spotted a very stupid bitop bug by me in the a80 ccu driver :/
<plaes> mripard_: wens, is there a way to mark a reset bit as used by CCU?
<plaes> currently with my A10/A20 patches LVDS will be disabled unless I specify clk_ignore_unused
<wens> the clock framework does not care about reset bits, and the reset framework does not do garbage collection
<plaes> hmm..
<wens> so either you have something modeled incorrectly, or some bit offset is wrong and overwriting some other bit
<plaes> ok, then my hunch was actually correct :)

<xdanger> Have a question about sun8i boards. My serial (in /proc/cpuinfo) changed after I upgraded the kernel from 4.9 to 4.10. Is the serial random generaded in some boot script or is it derived from the hardware and just the code to generate that changed between the kernels?
|Jeroen| has joined #linux-sunxi
perr has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<KotCzarny> xdanger: if your board is based on H3, then it might be because of a bug fixed
<KotCzarny> and its not a serial number
Mr__Anderson has joined #linux-sunxi
lemonzest has joined #linux-sunxi
<xdanger> KotCzarny: yeah, H3. Any idea if that "serial" is going to stick through the next kernel version upgrade?
<plaes> xdanger: hopefully :)
<xdanger> :)
<MoeIcenowy> Hopefully it will only change once
<MoeIcenowy> xdanger: the so-said serial is part of the chip's SID
<xdanger> It seams that the serial is used to generate mac for the wlan and saved to modprobe.d/8189fs.conf . I'm using the "serial" as an id in my "iot" prototype and wlan mac as a id for some network stuff... Luckily only about 13 nodes so not that much of a change, but now it's harder to upgrade since have to upgrade the iot database and few routes in few networks
<KotCzarny> and again, it is not the serial
<xdanger> but it's pseudo unique per device?
<xdanger> ot per chip
<KotCzarny> if you get two boards from the same production run they might get the same
<KotCzarny> unless they contain some calibration data
<MoeIcenowy> the full SID can be promised to be unique per device
<KotCzarny> MoeIcenowy: is it?
<MoeIcenowy> but I don't know how is the serial generated from SID
<MoeIcenowy> KotCzarny: I think so
<MoeIcenowy> And we have never seen two devices with the same SID, except some old devices with full-0 SID
<KotCzarny> that's because data pool is small, too few people reported
<MoeIcenowy> nope
<KotCzarny> xdanger, can you paste your sid to http://linux-sunxi.org/SID_Register_Guide ?
<MoeIcenowy> the SID is used to generate MAC for Ethernet for a long time
<xdanger> I'd like to be about sure if I can trust it. Since it sets stuff up based on that serial. Loads configs from a server etc. And I'd like it to survive a reinstall since tha boxes are marked with that serial (the "wrong" 4.9 serial)
<MoeIcenowy> and there's many people who bought several boards at the same time and get them connected via a switch
<KotCzarny> hum, then one of the fields MIGHT be a serial, but it's still up to vendor what ends here?
<MoeIcenowy> nope I think it's burned in Allwinner
<MoeIcenowy> not in board vendor
<KotCzarny> unless you mean SN field
<MoeIcenowy> at least for V3s
<KotCzarny> i shall redo my opis one time to increase the available data pool
<MoeIcenowy> if boards in the same batch have the same SID
<MoeIcenowy> there will be people complaining that they bought some boards (>2) with the same model, connected them together, and they conflicted because of the same MAC
<MoeIcenowy> but I'm at least sure my friend's 5xNano Pi NEO do not have this problem
<xdanger> I ordered 10 OrangePi Lites at the same time and all had very different "serials"
<plaes> wens: so, I'm trying to figure out what's going wrong with the LVDS, and still no luck
<MoeIcenowy> P.S. the serial update may be because the update of u-boot
<MoeIcenowy> we used to have some bug when reading the H3 SID
<plaes> clk_summary from both boots is identical
<MoeIcenowy> but I fixed it several months ago
<plaes> one with clk_ignore_unused and one without
<plaes> but screen stays on with clk_ignore_unused
<xdanger> How do I dump my sid... sunxi-fel sit says "ERROR: Allwinner USB FEL device not found!", and can't find the /sys/devices/platform/soc@01c00000/1c23800.eeprom/eeprom or something similiar
<MoeIcenowy> xdanger: try again for FEL

<MoeIcenowy> please shutdown your board, remove the boot media, apply power and then connect MicroUSB port to your PC
<MoeIcenowy> KotCzarny: it may be interesting to collect mass order data of SID
<MoeIcenowy> (I mean >=2 boards that is ordered and sent at the same time
<MoeIcenowy> and I hope such boards can be tagged when adding data
jernej has joined #linux-sunxi

<xdanger> is there a way to read the SID directly from os?
<MoeIcenowy> yes

<MoeIcenowy> echo $(printf '%08x' $(devmem2 0x01c14200 | grep Value | cut -d : -f 2)) $(printf '%08x' $(devmem2 0x01c14204 | grep Value | cut -d : -f 2)) $(printf '%08x' $(devmem2 0x01c14208 | grep Value | cut -d : -f 2)) $(printf '%08x' $(devmem2 0x01c1420c | grep Value | cut -d : -f 2))

<KotCzarny> MoeIcenowy: comparing opipc sids alredy existing on the wiki, there is hardly any field that could be the serial #, at least in first 128bytes
Mr__Anderson has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<MoeIcenowy> yes but they're currently unique
<MoeIcenowy> we can consider the first 16 bytes as a serial number
<KotCzarny> unique, yes, but the meaning of the fields seem random
<MoeIcenowy> as it has at least the functionality to identify a SoC
<MoeIcenowy> The only decoded field is the first 4 bytes
<KotCzarny> yup
<MoeIcenowy> but serial number is not equal to model number
<MoeIcenowy> containing variable parts in a serial number is also acceptable ;-)
<KotCzarny> i still bet on some calibration or batch data
<MoeIcenowy> nope they're really the ID of the chip
<KotCzarny> might even mean what shift they were produced etc

<KotCzarny> if you happen to have a chance to ask more questions to allwinner, this might be one of easy ones ;)
<MoeIcenowy> the first 16 bytes are called "EFUSE_CHIPID" in official U-Boot code
<MoeIcenowy> the only part that is surely calibration data is the word at 0x34, which is THS calibration data
<KotCzarny> chip id might have shift/material/fab/phase of the moon id
<KotCzarny> as part of it
<MoeIcenowy> I will ask TL Lim if he wants to pass another heap of questions to AW ;-)
<KotCzarny> those fields with 'oem:' are demangled from bugged sids
