<stdint>
mmind00, does the mali driver only the dts merged into upstream?
<hanetzer>
stdint: prolly rephrase that.
<stdint>
I saw the patches for the ARM Mali GPU device tree in the linux upstream
<stdint>
it looks there is no driver files for them
<stdint>
so only the device tree are merged?
<hanetzer>
stdint: yeah. you need to get them from arm or the vendor tree
<anarsoul>
stdint: yes. ARM's kernel driver uses it, but it's out of tree. Lima also uses the same bindings, but only first RFC was sent few days ago
<hanetzer>
and lima doesn't cover the mali gpu in the rk3288; there are a few different variants (all named after norse regions [midgard, utgard, bifrost, etc])
<hanetzer>
panfrost is working on kernel and userspace foss driver for those.
<stdint>
I want to submit the device tree patch for video decoder/encoder
<stdint>
if the driver binding for the device tree are not necessary, I hope I can submit them first
<hanetzer>
stdint: kernel driver for that?
<stdint>
the kernel driver is only in plan for two years
<anarsoul>
hanetzer: but it does in rk3328 ;)
<stdint>
but I don't really have time to do that, maybe I would start the support for hevc decoder first

<mmind00>
stdint: having bindings + devicetree nodes without drivers is in general allowed ... but it's not the norm, simply because most often, required changes surface during driver development
<mmind00>
stdint: but if your device also is "just" a simple mem-to-mem device, it should pose no problem :-)
<mmind00>
stdint: but will of course need a Review by devicetree maintainers ... so just go ahead and post binding + dts patches first and we'll go from there

<vagrantc>
seems like firefly-rk3288 sometime after u-boot v2018.01 has issues with MMC ... anyone have ideas on a lead?
<vagrantc>
git bisecting u-boot, while possible, is hard to do due to having to manually install the sdcard...
<hanetzer>
vagrantc: dunno. I'm having issues with sdcard and usb detection on mine.

I thought the iommu auto probing is done at upstream /sys/devices/platform/ff9c0000.hevc-decoder/iommu
<ayaka>
but it is not, I am porting the mpp driver into upstream I found the DMA api won't use the iommu
