<tlwoerner> does anyone have instructions for generating images for the firefly-rk3399 board?
<tlwoerner> it'd be nice to build my own u-boot, kernel, rootfs for rk3399, does anyone have any instructions for doing so?
focus_ has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<vagrantc> tlwoerner: i don't have instructions handy, but have been somewhat successful trying it
<vagrantc> tlwoerner: i'd recommend soldering a switch onto the pads to short the eMMC before trying to mess with a custom u-boot though
* tlwoerner is getting rather good at putting various rockchip boards into maskrom mode!! :-S
<vagrantc> i've never gotten a build of ATF + u-boot SPL + u-boot that actually worked, but I have managed to use some tools to generate a trust.img
<vagrantc> and have that load u-boot
<vagrantc> once i get a working u-boot, i've usually just booted debian-installer from there
<vagrantc> your preferences ay vary
<vagrantc> may
<vagrantc> tlwoerner: this one is hard to get into maskrom mode if it is working enough to load from eMMC, but bad enough that it immediately crashes
<vagrantc> since the boot order apparently defaults to eMMC and the only way to change that is to short the eMMC pins to ground
<vagrantc> i've gotten it to that very bad state several times ... no i only wipe the eMMC and use microSD ... but that has some quirky issues as well
<vagrantc> now i only..

<tlwoerner> is there a simple way to wipe eMMC using linux? i tried upgrade_tool but when i try to write sectors (ws) it fails, when i try to lower-format (lf) it fails, i can't even read sectors

<vagrantc> dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblkX bs=4096k count=100
<vagrantc> you could be more targeted, but that should make your system unbootable :)
vagrantc has quit [Quit: leaving]
<tlwoerner> shoot, vagrantc is gone
<tlwoerner> that assumes i was able to boot into a system, i wasn't. my boot stops at u-boot
