MadSpark- is now known as MadSpark
<Tenkawa> greetings alll
<Tenkawa> fixed my high cpu load problem
<Tenkawa> disabling the IPU fixed it
<abrasive> some of the freescale drivers are a bit awful.
<abrasive> the crypto unit is terrible
<Tenkawa> now i'm trying to figure out how to lower the 128mb it reserves at boot for the dma engine
<Tenkawa> so i can get back some of the ram it took away
<Tenkawa> Memory: 576MB 256MB = 832MB total
<Tenkawa> thats all i get currentlu
<Tenkawa> er currently
<Tenkawa> abrasive: i will be quite happy when i can move to something newer than 3.0.35 on this gk802
<Tenkawa> cant go back to -current on slackware until i get off 3.0
<Tenkawa> any ideas?
<Tenkawa> on the memory thing?
<abrasive> you might be waiting a while for new kernels. I doubt the freescale stuff will be merged into mainline without a lot of work
<Tenkawa> abrasive: its a shame too with as mucg documentation thats out there
<Tenkawa> so.. you think evdn boards like the wandboard wont encourge it? bummer
<Tenkawa> wo this thing runs a lot faster without the ipu destroying it
<Tenkawa> er wow
<abrasive> it's a /lot/ of work
<abrasive> and with nobody paying for it...
<Tenkawa> true
<Tenkawa> just getting a device tree for it would do wonders though
<Tenkawa> i'm going to see what i can do to help as long as i dont fry this board
<Tenkawa> "may" have just found that ram reservation... trying a compile/reboot now
<Tenkawa> anyone got the proper block nodes for /dev/mmcblk*
<Tenkawa> and omg the 8192cu driver is printk spammy

<hste> jas-hacks_: done some hacking lately?
<jas-hacks_> hste: should get that i.mx6 board back hopefully by the end of the week, so will look at the 3.5 kernel stuff.
<hste> for keeping?
<jas-hacks_> jas-hacks_: hoping ;)
<hste> :)
<jas-hacks_> hste: give me a chance to test the sata connector on it.
<hste> had more fun with the mixtile?
<jas-hacks_> hste: yeah that's interesting, trying to work out if it runs faster (and cooler) than the imx6
<hste> whats the freq is it running?
<jas-hacks_> 1.4GHz
<jas-hacks_> apparently can be over-clocked to 1.7Ghz
<hste> should be faster then on the cpu side ;)

<Tenkawa> hey all
<Tenkawa> anyone know whats taking 186mb of memory away from the gk802's main kernel boot?
<hste> Tenkawa: video
<Tenkawa> hste: anywhere in thwps auxwww
<Tenkawa> er
<Tenkawa> anwhere in the code to reduce that?
<Tenkawa> my unit is running headless so its a waste
<hste> Tenkawa: build the kernel without vivante
<Tenkawa> ahhh
<Tenkawa> thanks
<Tenkawa> taking ipu out made a big difference for me too btw
<Tenkawa> ok.. new build running
<Tenkawa> ok.. rebooting.. lets see
<Tenkawa> ohhhh much better
<Tenkawa> thank you
