when i reboot my linux (with the command reboot) it doesn't boot proberly. once i saw kernel log messages (last timestamp was around 3 secs after reboot) and once cb seemed to load the kernel but as soon as the blue led blinked twice it rerebooted and then rererebooted and then rerererebooted and so forth. is this normal for cubieboard?
<Wizzup>
what I noted (yeah still here) is that when you reboot, it doesn't want to boot from mmc
<Wizzup>
you need to take out power
<Wizzup>
or take out mmc
<Wizzup>
and replug it
<Wizzup>
then it boots

As I have it enabled in make.conf, which means it is system-wide.
<swabbles>
Only difference is that my mfpu is set to neon (didn't know there was neon-vfpv4, so I haven't tried that)
<swabbles>
Not sure if it is supposed to make a difference though (as for those errors).
<Wizzup>
I had problems with libpng and neon
<Wizzup>
I think I ended up disabling it everywhere

but unsure at this point..

ssvb: the patch you sent me yesterday works great! No more tearing, eglSwapBuffers() works AS INTENDED now!! great!!
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: will this small but very important fix go into the mainline kernel or the linux-sunxi kernel???
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: in my opinion, it's a must :)
<Vanfanel>
ah, performance is WAY better now. No more ioctl FBIO_WAITFORVSYNC blocking the CPU
<ssvb>
Vanfanel: effectively it is doing the same as FBIO_WAITFORVSYNC ioctl immediately after FBIOPAN_DISPLAY, but this happens in a separate mali thread, so it should not be blocking your main thread
<ssvb>
Vanfanel: as for applying it to linux-sunxi, I'm not so sure because it is going to regress android
<ssvb>
Vanfanel: the android gralloc module assumes that FBIOPAN_DISPLAY is non-blocking and then separately calls FBIO_WAITFORVSYNC
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: but it's supposed to be on a separate mali thread. On the Rpi, EGLSwapBuffers DOES wait for vsync and yet it does NOT block the program
<Vanfanel>
you did a good thing, fixed something that was wrong
<Vanfanel>
Maybe the deffinitive solution would be making the FBIO_WAITFORVSYNC ioctl to block in a separate thread?

ssvb: the problem is that I should restore fb contents on exit, right? I have this code, wich clears the buffer: I can also try to store a copy of the framebuffer, and draw it on exit, but it will be the same...
<emx>
ssvb, there is the "kernel command lin type" in the kernel configuration. it says "use bootloader if available", "extenden arguments" and the kernel built in. should i use the first or the second?
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: that code is based on what the SDL fbcon backend does on exit
<ssvb>
emx: depends on what you want, normally the command line is received from the bootloader, so that you can change it in boot.scr or uEnv.txt without recompiling the kernel
<ssvb>
Vanfanel: looks reasonable to me
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: and it's, in fact, working: but ONLY if the text cursor is visible in that precisse instant
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: if you remember well, the text cursor is visible since there seems to be some problem with the mixer
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: but this solution is NOT working if the text cursor isn't being drawn in the moment you exit the EGL/GLES program
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: Don't worry, that problem is fixed now... I just disabled the fix in order to test this
<Vanfanel>
ssvb: one problem debugger at each time
