<keebler> I'm slammed with work today and tomorrow. Getting the MEB finalized and ready for production next week. On top of my "Day job". BUT, if I get the time, I'll hopefully be able to test MEB-VGA today.

<focus_it> keebler: great
<focus_it> keebler, lkcl_ my company order 3 cubie boards today. I really really really think some short batch run of EOMAs is in order, even if they be last version with the faults.
<focus_it> I have a cubie2, i probably order a couple more for myself.

<focus_it> keebler lkcl_ Also ordered were 2 x sata docks, 6 x 2.5" drives, 15 x uSD cards - money is being spent
<focus_it> lkcl_ now that uploading image issues are settled, if you can start uploading image files as well, the envelope can be pushed open to make everything bigger.

<keebler> I just left frys with 2 different RAID Drive Bays with Port Multipliers
<keebler> Will try testing them next week.
<keebler> On Silicon Image 3132 and one jMicron 393
<keebler> the SI3132 is a 4bay 3.5", the jMicron a 5bay 2.5"
<focus_it> keebler: very nice
<focus_it> rigging up a cubieboard2 with ubuntu 13.04 as my ftp server for 6 cameras :)
<focus_it> 1Tb storage with esata drive, takes one picture every second on cameras and log it to HD and then simple gambas program recycles the directories after a few weeks to fill up the disk :)
<focus_it> replace a 200W 3GHz Optiplex PC with this 20W solution :) :)
<keebler> Yeah, trying to see if I can get port multiplication working.
<keebler> To make a true minimal server+NAS, rather than just NAS or DAS.

<focus_it> keebler: good idea - multiplication or replication? The synology drives arokuk was talking about had replication with what I think is rsync
<keebler> focus_it: multiplication
<focus_it> keebler: any old '08 - the ones i bought were these 'ls08 - http://uk.farnell.com/texas-instruments/sn74ls08d/ic-gate-quad-2-input-smd/dp/1287549?Ntt=1287549
<keebler> Looks like the Synology and Netgear ReadyNAS used the same Marvel CPU too for their Dual Bay.
<focus_it> hmm.. i think they be under spec'd - when copying a lot of files they loose track
<focus_it> we got a couple of drives
<keebler> What would be underspeced? The ReadyNAS and Synologies?
<focus_it> have to copy files a few directories at a time
<focus_it> synology
<keebler> Ah.
<keebler> Yeah, not what I was looking for in a NAS anyway.
<focus_it> we set up new linux server next week with 8GB RAM and 1TB hd, and i bet that is going to out perform the synology drive costing x3
<focus_it> :)
<focus_it> IT people - what do they know eh?
<keebler> Probably, spent 3 hours at Fry's trying to buy the DAS and new case for my Xeon E3-1235 VM server.
<keebler> Only to be rebuffed because I left my debit card at home.
<focus_it> wow you guys buy big
<keebler> This is for my home server.
<keebler> :)
<focus_it> oh dear!
<keebler> It WAS in a 4U rack
<keebler> but I'm tired of the noise and space.
<focus_it> gets better every minute! :)
<keebler> If I can get the EOMA to perform well with the DAS, it'll replace MOST of the functionality of the Xeon.
<focus_it> i think it will - because most of the time you are waiting on the hd
<focus_it> put in a ssd - see what difference that makes
<keebler> Only got the SI3132 to test compatibility, as it seems to be the most Linux friendly "older" Port Multiplier available locally.
<keebler> The jMicron has been shown to work with some TI ARM boards.
<focus_it> i am out of date - what is a port mulitplier?
<keebler> Just an IC that has one SATA Host port, that Multiplies the available ports from 1 to 4 or 5.
<focus_it> ah! brilliant - just like usb?
<focus_it> i see some photos http://www.cooldrives.com/cosapomubrso.html
<keebler> Kinda, however I haven't seen anything SPECIFICALLY saying that the Host Controller in the A20 CAN'T support Multiplication, and instead of waiting for an answer or doing research, I figured I'd just spend the $170 and try it.
<keebler> The Host Controller has to support Multiplication.
<focus_it> i see - ebay the controllers are dirt cheap
<keebler> I mean, Sata Controller of the A20.
<keebler> Yeah.
<keebler> Waiting for Fry's to send me the confirmation that my order is ready for pick up, rather than drive out there for a 3rd time, bought it online.
<focus_it> thats good
<keebler> Spent $303 JUST on ITX cases and the DAS.
<focus_it> big spender!
<keebler> lol, That was as cheap as I can get.
<keebler> I could have gone to the used discount store down the road, but I bought the 4U rack from them before for $5, and it needed a lot of mods to get it to work with my raid and ATI5970 GPU.
<keebler> Awesome, that's exactly what I'm looking for, but can't find locally.
<keebler> what IC?
<focus_it> Chipset : SiI3726
