<projectgus>
oh, i see, you mean gnu/linux as opposed to android
<projectgus>
should certainly be possible, I'm afraid I don't know anything about tcc8925 though - sorry
<PoWeRKiLL>
projectgus do you know how to create a firmware image based on the zImage already created ?
<PoWeRKiLL>
cnxsoft may be you can help ?

<projectgus>
PoWeRKiLL: the zimage is just the kernel, the thing you need is usually called a 'rootfs' - it's a filesystem that you point the kernel to when it runs
<projectgus>
exactly how to do this so it works on a tcc8925, i do not know, sorry
<lkcl>
i believe they do a digital signature / checksum on the sdcard so that'll need to be removed.

lkcl: what is your official position on someone like me making a few of your boards as samples through my CN partner company? I need the gerbers and BoM. I can fund 10 pieces max.

PoWeRKiLL: I've never gone as far as trying a rootfs
<lkcl>
those are the commands you'll need to do the compiling
<lkcl>
oo!
<lkcl>
good stuff!

<PoWeRKiLL>
lkcl you are a board maker ?
<lkcl>
focus: let me think and talk with my partners. the next main thing to do is to get an online "store" set up somewhere
<lkcl>
PoWeRKiLL: i can do 98% of PCB design stuff
<focus>
lkcl: ok thanks, I respect that.
<PoWeRKiLL>
wow
<lkcl>
focus: so we can get a little more than 10 units :) i think a safe first run would be around 100
<lkcl>
PoWeRKiLL: it's mostly cut/paste of other peoples' stuff :)
<PoWeRKiLL>
lkcl what board do you advise I'm looking for a good setopox that can read HLS stream
<lkcl>
PoWeRKiLL: i apply the same software-engineering skills to using PCB layout software :)
<lkcl>
PoWeRKiLL: what's HLS?
<lkcl>
ok HTTP live streaming
<PoWeRKiLL>
HLS is a streaming format from apple H264 video + AAC Audio
<focus>
lkcl: 10 units first, then 100 units, then 1000. The first 10 units are produced with everyone in production line present and then after verification, some 2 to 3 days to a week later, the 100 are made
<PoWeRKiLL>
yes exactly
<lkcl>
well, that's applications-level, and i'm not so hot on that kind of thing
<lkcl>
focus: well, we've got 5 going, so we're onto the next phase
<focus>
lkcl: is that with entire production staff present - or just one or two engineers dabling
<lkcl>
L84Supper: yehhh, i was hoping to make something that made more sense profile-wise - the kind of thickness of a toshiba ac100 (which is mostly full of air!!)
<lkcl>
i don't know if you recall the beautiful-looking CT-PC89e, it was hilarious: there was hardly anything in it, and it was so light that if you opened it up it fell over backwards!
<lkcl>
the battery was 2000mAh yet lasted 2 hours+, yet because it was only 150 grammes it wasn't a big enough counterweight to stop the thing falling over!
<lkcl>
a beautiful 650 gramme laptop that needed an extra 100 gram lump of metal at the front. talk about irony

anyway: if the VIA CC CAD/CAM files aren't useful then i'll stop looking for them... hmm... or maybe not. i've used programs to re-create 3D files that are alterable by using overlays. you use the STL file as a "ghost".
<lkcl>
i'll think about it :)
<lkcl>
see what happens
