<azonenberg_work> Lol IDK why xilinx stuff has them
<azonenberg_work> they're almost always a horrible idea to use
<azonenberg_work> i have never intentionally used one
<rqou> i seem to recall an appnote that used latches, delays, other random asynchronous bits, and finally a dual-port ram to capture the data coming from an sdram

<cr1901_modern> Also, stupid q, but what's the difference between icoTC and icoboard?
<jn__> icoTC is the ico* tool chain, IIUC
<cr1901_modern> What's the difference between icoTC and icestorm?
<jn__> i.e. if i understood it correctly, icoTC is yosys + arachne + icestorm
<jn__> but i might be wrong
<pie_> arachne?
<cr1901_modern> the PNR tool
<pie_> ah
<rqou> woo, successfully requested a replacement for a ROCA-affected yubikey that i obtained from <redacted>
<rqou> now i can get another one :P

<rqou> awesome. accidentally burned my fingertips with hot glue
<rqou> good thing i stole some aloe from my friend a while back
<rqou> azonenberg: i really need to properly stock up my first aid kit
<azonenberg> rqou: yes, thats a good thing to have
<azonenberg> Although, avoiding napalm-y things like hot glue getting on yourself is good practice too
<rqou> also, i increasingly see why labs need sinks
<azonenberg> Lol
* qu1j0t3 snerks
<azonenberg> Yes, when i set up my garage lab i'm gonna plumb it out properly
<rqou> yeah, what happened here was "is it hot enough yet? no? let's do something else for a while... is it hot enough now? OH SHIT OW OW"
<balrog> glue guns are awful
<jn__> don't use your finger as a thermometer :P
<rqou> i didn't
<rqou> i squeezed it expecting nothing to come out
<rqou> but i was wrong
<awygle> Don't point glue guns at anything you don't want to adhere
<rqou> it wasn't pointed _at_ anything in particular
<rqou> azonenberg: imagine if i had to fill out an incident report every time i screwed up while working :P
<awygle> Somebody get an ISO auditor over to rqou laboratories
<azonenberg> rqou: You might hurt yourself less that way
<azonenberg> every minute you spend doing paperwork is a minute you're not doing something dumb
<azonenberg> :p
<qu1j0t3> burn
<qu1j0t3> oh sorry #toosoon
* qu1j0t3 goes to bed -- allegedly another very safe place

<eduardo__> rqou: will you come to Risc-V Workshop? Gowinsemi will have a representative there, and we still look for someone to take responsibility for that plattform. ;-) Clifford got stuck with their buggy programmer.
<rqou> doesn't it cost money?
<rqou> oh, registrations are already closed anyways, so no i'm not going
<eduardo__> well, actually, yes, and it is already sold out. But i guess we could arrange a meeting wiuth Gowinsemi ppl without having you to pay . will depend on the situation. I wanted to meet your father anyway to give him an update. We got a car
<rqou> i can probably arrange something like that
<rqou> somebody over in #yosys actually just reminded me today about gowin, but i can't easily buy any of their parts right now
<eduardo__> I can bring you the Dev board we have here.
<eduardo__> we go the 50k LUT version
<rqou> tbh i probably don't have enough time to work on it
<eduardo__> You need to tell me now as my plane leaves tomorrow morning and I need to pick up the board from cliffords place.
<eduardo__> ok.
<eduardo__> so then its not worth.
<eduardo__> and in any case I could bring it to CCC anyway if you redecide
<rqou> yeah, by the time i have spare time i can probably just arrange to get one in china
<rqou> bringing it to CCC would be neat though
<eduardo__> rqou: BTW, we are doing a motion controler with ICE40.
<eduardo__> We will bring two of them to 34C3
<eduardo__> There will be a smaller and cheaper Driver be available from Trenz.

<eduardo__> rqou: your master program runs until what date???
<rqou> approximately june 1 2018
<eduardo__> rqou: last year at 33C3 there was a guy showing around his SDRAM controller running on ICE40
<rqou> SDR or DDR?
<rqou> and what speed?
<eduardo__> rqou: https://github.com/mwelling/beagle-wire has an SDRAM on board. Dont know how good it is supported.
<eduardo__> I dont remember exactly, but it might be that he ran it with 50MHz. He used the ice40 8k evaluation board and made a SRAM board. Dont recall his name.
<eduardo__> Didnt you see it? He was on our table most of the time.
<rqou> hmm, i forgot
<eduardo__> So my question about your MAster program. Until when will it last?
<rqou> june 2018
<eduardo__> Thanx
<eduardo__> So lets hope we have Darpa funding by then....
